Our Story
SJ Morris started out writing in her spare time and eventually finished her debut novel, Z-Strain. Looking to get her work published she decided to work with a small startup publishing firm. Z-Strain was first published October 31st, 2016. There was positive feedback about the book, but there was also some not so positive feedback. The story was intriguing, the characters well thought out, complex and likable, but the editing, as well as the formatting, needed some work. Those are words no 'published' author wants to hear or read.
The original publisher completed additional edits, and the book was re-released but unfortunately only on eBook. Needless to say, it was not working out with the original publishing firm, and soon that business had closed.
Where to go from there you ask? Why publish it herself! After completing additional edits, some reformatting, and many sleepless nights at the computer figuring out how to perfect the art of uploading the manuscript and cover art to Amazon, she had self-published. Z-Strain, book one was downloaded/sold over 400 times in just over one month. Now that's progress.
SJ Morris truly enjoys writing as well as the publishing side of literature. Marketing is always tricky for a new author, but SJ Morris took on that challenge as well. It's tricky teaching yourself something you haven't really done before, but it is definitely exciting to learn new things and meet different people. After releasing her second and third book, Richie's Ghost Squad, and Z-Strain, The Road to Perdition, she decided she wanted to share everything she had learned from her experiences, her passion for writing, publishing, and networking in the artistic community. This was when Forever Morris Publishing was born.
