The Pie Auction & Concert scheduled for Sunday, February 6 has been cancelled. We want to continue to protect the safety of our students and patrons. Fundraising to support the musicians of the band program is important and the students were very excited to share their performances, but we would never want someone to be injured or worse while trying to attend the event.

The proceeds from the Pie Auction are vital to the continued growth and success of individual musicians and bands as a whole in grades 5 - 12. Annual funds are devoted to numerous endeavors that provide support through the purchase of specialty instruments essential in creating outstanding bands, scholarships to summer band camps for continued individual growth, leadership camps that train upperclassmen to confidently teach and mentor younger players, plus special enrichment performance opportunities outside our District. All of these activities not only build musicianship, but also benefit their individual growth as well-rounded students. Musicians of all ages benefit from the generosity of this wonderful community that supports the arts and music education.

Donations will be sincerely appreciated via these methods:

1) Check payable: Boonville Band Boosters

Mail to: Boonville High School c/o Band Department, 1 Pirate Drive

2) Drop-off in person at any of the schools or offices (cash or check)

3) Venmo -BandBoosters

4) Square card reader for debit/credit card (Boonslick Regional Library, starting Feb 8 / Cathy Birk; or by appointment with Mrs. Pirtle or Mr. Fields [email protected] or [email protected])

Stay tuned next week and follow the band on Facebook at “Boonville High School Silver Pirate Band” as we highlight upcoming and past specialty instrument purchases and students that have benefited from the pie auction proceeds.

ANNOUNCEMENT

Postponed: The 26th Annual Pie Auction & Concert will NOT take place as originally scheduled on Friday, January 21, 2022.

Q-1: What is the new date for the Pie Auction & Concert?

A-1: We are unsure at this time. This is a very large event that involves many schools and people to bring it to life. We will share the new date once a new date has been selected

Q-2: Why is the Pie Auction & Concert being postponed?

A-2: We are postponing because we cannot in good conscience hold an event and encourage very large groups of people to gather for an extended time. The health of every musician, family member, and community member is too important. We will find an alternate time when it is more appropriate for us to gather and enjoy this event together.

***The philosophy of the Boonville Band program since the beginning of the pandemic has been to protect the health of band students and their families, to the best of our abilities. The Pie Auction & Concert is a community event that is at it’s best when the LSE auditorium is filled to the brim with an excited audience watching the auctioneers and listening to the 275 musicians play their heart out on stage sharing their music with the community that supports them year after year.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Pirtle and Mr. Fields
