How cool is that @magicbox can moonlight as a concert stage?! Their amazing traveling virtual production stage is proving to be pretty multifaceted. We love what they are doing and stoked to be the computer power behind it.

We know we’re biased but our partners at Orbital are doing some unreal work with their technology and this video is proof. #virtualproduction #LED #LEDvolume @orbitalvirtualstudios Multiple vantage points demonstrate the true capability of our team and how our technology differs from other LED volumes. In this sample, and looking past the sync since we did not common slate, peer in to see some “unreal” things. Real time environments, low latency and tracking. Tracking on a Trinity, a device that creates occlusion due to its wide range of articulation. Keep in mind our camera is 3’ (0.91 m) from the screen, a range not possible using 2.6 pixel pitch screens. All this while running @unrealengine 5. @donbitters utilized our Ndisplay setup using UE5 lumen global lighting and Nanite meshes. Our DP, @fistfulloffilm uses a mix of both old school tungsten as well as @arri orbiters, LED @dedolight to match live action to the 3D environment. The @arri Trinity is flying @sonycine Venice and connected by @nodofilm #inertiawheels. One last thing, there’s only 12 of us, rather than hundreds. We are continually amazed at how @orbitalvirtualstudios is pushing the boundaries of production. We’re proud to support and enable our partners! “As pioneers in the virtual frontiers of filmmaking, we often find ourselves developing real solutions for future problems that haven’t even begun to exist yet. This practice keeps us sharp pushing the boundaries of the possible even the formerly impossible, but often it can also feel isolated. It’s a great relief collaborating with like-minded think tanks like @quasarscience who are pushing the same boundaries and answering the future questions that also don’t exist yet in regards to lighting solutions in virtual space. Our advanced wall resolution and fidelity coupled with their accurate color all playing in a space that’s less than 2.13 m (7 feet). This collaboration was made possible due to all of us already being filmmakers at our core, and having shared many sets and jobs through our circuitous careers together and apart, knowing there could be something better. This is the “better”we had in our minds’ eye from all those years schlepping cable and pushing camera carts up dirt paths in darkness to catch sunrise.
