The end of an era.

I learned this week that my uncle, Blaine Hunsaker passed away. Blaine was the youngest of Grandpa Leon Hunsaker's children. All are now gone.

My final goes to "My Happy Place." It's a charity that does bedroom makeovers for cancer patients. Its volunteers create a beautiful space where they can rest and recharge.

Some of you are already aware that my wife Lisa is battling a cancer for which there is currently no cure.
To better support her, I am retiring from CBS 2 Boise at the end of this month.
It's time to start making up for 44 years of missed holidays, weekends, and nights.
Leaving a career that I love will not be easy.
I will miss the close association of colleagues and I will miss telling the stories of good people doing great things in our community.
I did the math. 117 Pay It Forward stories over the last nine years. And in partnership with Mountain America Credit Union we've given away more than $58,000 dollars to deserving local charities.
There are so many quiet heroes in our community. I want you to know that I love each of you for what you're doing. You're my inspiration. It has been the greatest privilege of my long career to tell your stories.

God bless you as you continue to Pay It Forward.

A local builder who volunteered to remodel a home for a disabled Marine Corps veteran -- and did it in record time -- was nominated by the vet and his family for a Mountain America Credit Union & CBS 2 Boise .

Apparently, our website isn't working, so here's the video of the homecoming for disabled USMC vet Wayne Hues.

Thanks to the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) - U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs for taking such good care of him.

And I can't say enough about the people of this community who came together to help a vet and his family. Even some city leaders in Meridian, Idaho were there for the homecoming. Thank You!

And thanks to The Home Depot which will be replacing all of the flooring on the main level for Wayne's motorized wheelchair!

He's home!

Thanks to everyone in the community who made this day possible.

Wayne Hues is finally home. An ambulance took him on the final leg of his journey from a VA rehab center in Seattle.

DEMOLITION DAY at the house for USMC Veteran Wayne Hues.

Back in March, an accident left Wayne a . Volunteers, non-profits, and donors are coming together to modify this house to be wheelchair accessible.

Their goal - get it done in two weeks! Wayne can't be released from the VA rehab facility until the critical work is done.

An update on Wayne Hues, a USMC veteran who is now a quadriplegic.

I got a tour of his Meridian, Idaho Idaho home from Joe Levitch of Levco Builders. He showed me all that needs to be done to make it wheelchair accessible. And Wayne can't be released from a Veterans Health Administration rehab center in Seattle until that work is complete. Check out my story on CBS 2 Boise

Belong Co. Idaho is a non-profit that creates social and employment opportunities for adults with disabilities.

This weekend they rolled out their new coffee cart for a "soft opening" at Foothills Christian Church in Boise.

It will soon be popping up at businesses and events around the Treasure Valley!

This goes to the Pet Adoption League of Gem County Idaho. PAL runs a no-kill shelter for cats and dogs in Emmett, Idaho. 50 volunteers put in an average of 800 hours a month to keep their "guests" as happy as possible while they await their .

Flooding in Mt Charleston, Nevada from the remnants of Hurricane Hilary. Fire Protection District Chief George Gonzalez said crews are still assessing the damage. Residents are under a boil order.

The flooding took out 200 feet of roadway along State Route 157.

A successful fundraiser this weekend for alum BumbleBee Foundation! They held a Co****le Tournament at Settlers Park Meridian Idaho with Cornhold Unlimited. 94 Players participated. The final total of money raised isn't in yet, but Heather Siegfried Donatini, the co-founder of Bumblebee, tells me that it easily exceeded their goals.
