It's no secret I 🆂🆃🆁🆄🅶🅶🅻🅴🅳 with dating!💥 I found a new struggle after I found my person. 𝐋𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 at age 41 and still at age 47 is a challenge for me. 🤪

🤷‍♀️ Even though I have nothing to compare it to, I have a feeling this is different from sharing a space at 22. This 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞 comes after 𝙗𝙚𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙤𝙣 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙤𝙬𝙣 𝙛𝙤𝙧 25+ 𝙮𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙨 and liking your space a certain way and then the bull in the china shop moves in!🐂

I love that we have a day dedicated to love BUT that doesn't change the fact that Valentine's Day is HARD for singles and it was hard for me. 💔
I always felt better when February 14th was on a Saturday or a Sunday because one of the things I dreaded the most was being in the office watching bouquet after bouquet being delivered and marching right past my desk.
Before you start the hate comments hear me out. This had nothing to do with the person receiving the flowers! It had to do with the constant reminder all day long that I was still single. Another year going by without someone to say I love you. And no matter how confident I was or how many times someone would tell me that Hallmark made up the holiday to make money, it didn't change the fact that I was single. And if you're a person like me who loves that we have a day dedicated to love then you love flowers and candies and love notes! I love all the reasons Hallmark is making money today and I don't feel bad about that.
I'm not writing this because I want to start a debate on the holiday and Hallmark. I'm writing this because today I thought about my single self. I remembered how this day hurt because everywhere I looked it was like a flashing billboard...YOU'RE STILL SINGLE! It was a tough day for me the older I got. No amount of Galentine's Day happy hours could change that feeling. I'm writing this because if you're feeling the same way, you're not alone. I get you. And most likely you're reading this on February 15th because like my single self you are boycotting social media today. It's just too much.

The one thing I do miss about being single on Valentine's Day is climbing into bed around 6pm with my favorite snacks and watching one of my favorite movies that gave me hope (Bull Durham, Last Holiday, and Overboard to name a few). So snuggle up and feel good knowing this day is almost over. 💛
