Life and freedom, while unalienable, are fragile realities in this world. They must be cared for and protected; the strong must lift up the weak. So much of the social narrative lately has consisted of tearing others down — statues, people, ideologies, even kids’ TV shows — and yet we somehow expect this will build up our nation in a productive manner. We delude ourselves. Let us build one another up in respect and love, not tear down in self-righteous anger.
