I am excited to report that Yabuki Yuji, 18th Soke of Ono-ha Itto-ryu, passed the examination for 8th Dan in Kendo during the Kendo 8th Dan Examination, held on 11 August in Aichi, Japan.

Out of 445 candidates tested, only 12 were promoted, for a pass rate of 2.7%.

Please join me in congratulating Yabuki Soke on this tremendous accomplishment!

I’m pleased to announce that the next volume of the Secrets of Itto-ryu is out on Amazon. Note that this is Book Four of the series. Books Two, Three, and Five are forthcoming.

Book Four covers the densho, the scrolls that contain the esoteric secrets of the school. So, if you are interested in the school`s secrets and how they inform one’s practice, check out the book.

The latest video on Ono-ha Itto-ryu has been released! It was filmed at the Reigakudo and produced by BAB Japan.

You can either buy the DVD from Amazon Japan or get it on demand at the link below.

The DVD is all in Japanese while the on demand version has English subtitles. Translation is by Grigoris Miliaresis.

For the latest interview with Yabuki Yuji, Soke of Ono-ha Itto-ryu, see the link. It is a translation of an interview between him and Hiden Magazine that appeared in their November 2023 issue. Yabuki Soke speaks about his career as a kendoka in the Metropolitan Police Department, police kendo, and some common ground it has with Ono-ha Itto-ryu. This is sure to be of interest to kenjutsuka and kendoka alike.

I am pleased to announce that the first translation of Sasamori Junzo's "Secrets of Itto-ryu" (Japanese title: Itto-ryu Gokui) is available on Amazon. This is the first in a series of translations that will cover the entire book, which is 640 pages long.

Ono-ha Itto-ryu has 180 kata. Among them are: kirikaeshi, sayu no harai, gyaku no harai, chisho, chisho no aigedan, in no harai, and makikasumi. These are introduced by two top instructors of the Reigakudo.
