Their influence quickly spread and today BAFFA has members from 50 communities throughout Long Island. Dutch Girl Dry Cleaners in Blue Point is closing at the end of the month. Fred Adams, the proprietor, is retiring after 27 years. We would like to acknowledge his and his family's service to the community after all these years. Thank you!

Bayport-Blue Point Gazette writer and photographer Ezra Powers stepped out from behind his lens to receive the inaugural LT. Michael P. Murphy Memorial scholarship. One of seven $2500 scholarship recipients, the awards were presented by the Murphy family on Flag Day at the LT. Michael P. Murphy Navy Seal museum in West Sayville. A Long Island native, LT. Murphy was a United States Navy SEAL officer who was awarded the U.S. military's highest decoration, the Medal of Honor, for his actions during the War in Afghanistan. His heroic story was immortalized in the 2007 NYT's bestseller Lone Survivor, and the 2013 film adaptation by the same name. His namesake museum, located at 50 West Ave in West Sayville, opened in May of 2022.

Ezra has worked for the Gazettes for three years, covering dozens of local events throughout BBP and Sayville in that time. He's also been a contributing writer for the Suffolk County News, Long Island Advance, and the Islip Bulletin. Ezra is leaving his hometown paper for Kenyon College, where he plans to major in writing and physics. We wish him all the best!

This Friday, June 9th both Phantom Girls Lacrosse and Softball will make history as they advance to the semi-finals of the New York State Championship on the same day.

🥎 Girls Softball will take on Maine-Endwell at 10AM at Moriches Athletic Complex

🥍 Girls Lacrosse will take on Indian River at 1PM at SUNY Cortland

Mini Phantoms rallied in support as the BBP Varsity Lacrosse team departed Bayport to fight for the Long Island Championship title tonight at Adelphi University!

BBP Phantoms Girl's Varsity Lacrosse are 2023 Suffolk County Champions after beating the Mustangs 11-4 tonight at Stony Brook University!

Next up the undefeated Phantoms will fight for the LIC title at Adelphi University on June 4th at 6PM 🥍

Blue Point Memorial Day Parade begins at 9:30am on Blue Point Avenue from the corner of Middle Rd. to the firehouse. Memorial service will follow.

Bayport Memorial Day Parade begins at 11:00am on Middle Rd from the corner of Connetquot Rd. to Bayport Memorial Park. Memorial Service will follow.

There is still time for a springtime car wash! Bayport-Blue Point Boy Scout Troop 329 is holding this fundraiser today at Blue Point Fire Department until 3 pm. They hope to raise enough to paint the bleachers at Bayport Blue Point Little League Fields. Councilman Neil Foley just had his car washed.
