Love seeing our authors get great reviews.
BOOK REVIEW - The Grace Note by Jaqi Anderson
This is a delightfully written book, following the story of five main characters whose lives are unknowingly intertwined, but brought together by circumstances and ‘coincidences’, that ultimately work to bring joy in difficult circumstances.
The blurb states that it is “loosely inspired by real events’ which in itself sounds quite intriguing. The orphaned upbringing of some of the main characters bring a common thread to this story of rediscovering lost family, searching and ultimately finding healing and redemption in relationships.
It has a soundtrack of classical cello and piano playing in the background, with the listening and playing of music being an inspiration and enlightenment. It has a bit of mystery, a bit of romance and plenty of emotional engagement.
Faith has a fairly light touch on most of the characters’ lives, but it is there in the background and it does weave in to their stories. The idea that God can work circumstances for good is a theme. Some readers may see these as neat coincidences, some as ‘fate’ or others as them being the workings of God. It is right that it can be for the reader to decide.
But it does show the Christian reader that the hand of God on our lives can lead us to following His plans and purposes, and that God's love is persistent despite our best efforts.
Story runs along at a fair pace, is very readable, leaving me always wanting to read on to see what happened next and how each of the characters’ lives would cross over.
