Happy to report that Mills Pool opens tomorrow, June 19! A leak initially delayed the pool's opening. Tim Street, Parks and Recreation Department Director, noted that "the repairs address the immediate concerns that prevented the pool from opening, but the pool's plumbing and infrastructure continue to require attention," suggesting further repairs will be necessary at some point in the future.

Mills Pool is open daily, weather permitting, beginning June 19 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Current hours of operation are available on the Splash & Skate Hotline at 812-349-3741.

Feedback requested for the long-term fate of Bloomington’s Kirkwood Avenue

Ordinance 2026-12 would require Kirkwood Avenue to be closed to automobile traffic every year from April 1 through Nov. 15, beginning in 2027. Council approved it 5–4 on June 10, 2026. The Mayor has 10 days after the ordinance is formally presented to her to either sign or veto it; Council could override a veto with six votes, and requests feedback to make her decision. She will host a community conversation on Tuesday, June 16, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall, 401 N. Morton Street about the future of Kirkwood Avenue.

Join the Auxiliary to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Bloomington for the annual Strawberry Shortcake Festival in Switchyard Park this Thursday! They'll have delicious strawberry shortcakes for sale, plus a hotdog special. And don't miss the great live music! We got to see the new movie The Furious at an early screening, and we LOVED it! Definitely not for the squeamish, but if you're a fan of over-the-top martial arts action, The Furious is a nonstop delight.
