North Metro TV is the community television production studio that serves the suburbs of Blaine, Centerville, Circle Pines, Ham Lake, Lexington, Lino Lakes, and Spring Lake Park. The staff and volunteers of NMTV are committed to providing the residents of our seven cities access to television production training, equipment, and playback of community produced programs over the local cable system. In

addition to teaching the general public how to produce their own programs, NMTV has a production staff dedicated to covering local events such as community celebrations, high school sports, news events, elections, and many other items of interest to the northern suburbs. NMTV provides many services to the community including internships for college and high school students, tours of the production facility, private video production instruction for school groups or organizations, underwriting opportunities for businesses, and some equipment rental and production services.

A weekend storm dumped nearly five inches of snow across the North Metro, blanketing the Twin Cities. Residents grabbed shovels and fired up snowblowers, while drivers navigated slick, snow-covered roads.

*** UPDATE: A mediation session has been scheduled with the Minnesota Bureau of Mediation Services for Dec. 29.

Teachers in the Anoka-Hennepin school district are one step closer to going on strike. The union filed an intent to strike with the state and notified the district about their intent to strike as early as Jan. 8.

The new year means new changes in the north metro when it comes to public transportation. In January, Metro Transit is replacing the Northstar train with a fleet of buses.

Anoka-Hennepin teachers have formed a picket line outside of tonight's Special School Board Meeting. The teachers union and the school district have been unable to reach a contract agreement, and the union has voted to authorize a strike.

The school board meets at 6:30 pm tonight and will discuss three things.

1. Labor Negotiations
2. Anoka-Hennepin School Board Operations Resolution in the Event of Anoka Hennepin Education Minnesota Teacher Strike
3. Anoka-Hennepin School Board Resolution on Picketing

In the City of Blaine, the outdoor skating season is here! There are 19 skating rinks across five city parks, and they opened for the season on Dec. 19.

At last night's City of Blaine, council meeting, the city declared December 15, 2025 to be Spring Lake Park Panther Football State Championship Day in the city.
This council recognition joins the growing list of honors for the boys football team, following their state championship last month.
