𝑰𝒕'𝒔 π‘―π’π’‘π’‘π’Šπ’' πŸ‡. With the national series of all stripes off this past weekend, regional series all across the country got jumping. National superstars hopped all over the country hunting for a golden egg. Let's 'Dish on all the big πŸ’Έ races and noteworthy performances in Late Models, Modifieds, and Stock Cars from this past week, then set our sights on the weekend ahead πŸ‘‡

πŸ‘ŸπŸ’¨ 𝑻𝒉𝒆 π‘Ήπ’–π’π’…π’π’˜π’
πŸ– The MARS Racing Series Late Models kept the party rolling following the Illini 100 with a three-day swing, starting π‘»π’‰π’–π’“π’”π’…π’‚π’š at Cedar County Raceway where Brandon Sheppard also kept the good times rolling with the $5,000 victory. Bobby Pierce and Tanner English rounded out the podium; Carson Ferguson and Brian Shirley completed the Top 5. Tom Berry Jr was the IMCA Modified feature winner.

The series then headed to 34 Raceway for the Slocum 50, where Bobby Pierce busted out the 🧹 sweeping the $5,000 and $10,555 paydays. π‘π’“π’Šπ’…π’‚π’š saw Dennis Erb Jr. & Brian Shirley on the podium; Carson Ferguson and Shannon Babb completed the Top 5. π‘Ίπ’‚π’•π’–π’“π’…π’‚π’š Ferguson & Erb Jr. completed the podium; Gordy Gundaker and Tony Jackson Jr. finished the Top 5.

𝑁𝑒π‘₯𝑑 π‘ˆπ‘: This weekend!! Both the MARS Late Models and Modifieds head to Brownstown Bullring Friday with $5,000 for Late Models. Saturday both series head to Peoria Speedway with $5,098 for Late Models.

πŸ’« On Friday, the Northern Allstars Late Model and Modified Dirt Series were at Paragon Speedway for the Marvin O'Neal Memorial. Jason Jameson claimed the $10,071 Late Model feature over Hudson O'Neal, Steve Peeden, Ryan Gustin, and Tyler Neal. Ryan Thomas claimed the $1,500 victory over Trent Young, Colin Green, J.P. Roberts, and Jordan Wever.

πŸ’§πŸŒͺ️ The Southern Spring Nationals was in Tennesse this weekend for a pair of 5-figure Tennessee clashes. π‘π’“π’Šπ’…π’‚π’š, "The Manitoba Missile" Ricky Weiss claimed his second big payday this season I-75 Raceway, topping Cory Hedgecock, Dale McDowell, Garret Smith, and Jadon Frame for the $10,053 payday. π‘Ίπ’‚π’•π’–π’“π’…π’‚π’š, "Uncle T" Terbo Tyler Erb cashed in for $21,000 Tazewell Speedway over Jimmy Owens, Brandon Overton, Michael Leach, and Dale McDowell.

𝑁𝑒π‘₯𝑑 π‘ˆπ‘: This weekend!! The United Late Model Series joins up with Spring Nationals for the Beckley USA 100 from Beckley Motor Speedway with $4,053 Friday & $15,053 Saturday up for grabs.

🌩️ The Southern Thunder Super Dirt Series rolled south to Southern Raceway on Saturday, seeing Hunt the Front's Joseph Joiner claim the $10,000 big check over Dalton Cook, David Breazeale, Bo Slay, & Ashton Winger.

πŸŽ‚πŸ₯³ The American Racer Modified Series went wild for Donnie's Birthday Bash at Ark-La-Tex Speedway! π‘π’“π’Šπ’…π’‚π’š saw Manuel Williams II claim the $1,500 top prize over Sean Gaddis, Gary Christian, Kale Westover, & Dustin Henigan. π‘Ίπ’‚π’•π’–π’“π’…π’‚π’š, "The Thriller" Cade Dillard jumped in one of Gary Christian Racing's cars and took home the $2,000 payday over Chris Henigan, Christian, Trevor Hughes, and Manuel Williams II.

πŸ’Ž The Super DIRTcar Series celebrated Albany-Saratoga Speedway's Diamond Anniversary as L.J. Lombardo cashed in for $7,500 over Alex Yankowski, Tim Sears Jr., Mike Mahaney, and Erick Rudolph.

πŸ‘€ π‘³π’π’π’Œπ’Šπ’π’ˆ 𝑨𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒅
🐝 The World of Outlaws Late Model Series heads south for the Alabama Gang 100 from Talladega Short Track with $12,000 available Friday and a big-time $50,000 up for grabs in Saturday's finale.

↗️ The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series heads northeast for a triple-header weekend. π‘π’“π’Šπ’…π’‚π’š is the $20,049 Melvin L. Joseph Memorial from Georgetown Speedway, π‘Ίπ’‚π’•π’–π’“π’…π’‚π’š fires off from Hagerstown Speedway for the $25,000 Conococheague 50, the weekend concludes π‘Ίπ’–π’π’…π’‚π’š from Port Royal Speedway for the $10,000 .

πŸ’›πŸŒΎ The Heartland Modified Tour returns to action π‘π’“π’Šπ’…π’‚π’š from Saltcity Racing before heading to Caney Valley Speedway on π‘Ίπ’‚π’•π’–π’“π’…π’‚π’š. With USMTS on spring break, I wouldn't be surprised to see some deep, talented fields with more than a few national regulars in attendance.

✍️ Josh's Jottings
I'll keep it brief, but man was it good to be at the track this weekend. For all the consternation we hear about streaming from time to time, nothing beats the real thing. The sights, the sounds, the smells, the people, the food, all of it blows sitting on the couch out of the water.

The season opener at Ogilvie Raceway this past Saturday was no exception. I was able to lock down some merch (I'm sure that will make an appearance on the pod soon 😏), tried out the new southwest egg rolls at the food truck, watch multiple features get decided on the final lap, and continue to meet and catch up with more and more people. I'm so freakin' happy for it be race season proper in my neck of the woods!!

There are some big shows on the horizon that I'll be attending, and I can't wait!! I'm sure I'll capture my perspective of those along the way here, on this page!

Setting Sail for the Spooky Showdown πŸ‘»
Way back in October, Ol’ Gal and I threw caution to the wind, ignoring a sketchy, at best, forecast, and drove clear across Wisconsin for Luxy Raceway’s season-ending special, the Spooky Showdown.

For this adventure, we were all business in getting to Luxemburg, as we were making the return trip home the same day. We packed multiple coolers, our ridiculously strong cold brew, and set sail east around 8 am, enjoying the beautiful fall colors along the way.

We pulled into Joe Rouer's Bar around 1pm, meeting up with Carter, Ryan, and as an added and much-welcomed bonus Ray, Ryan’s dad! Ol’ Gal and I ordered chili, burgers, onion petals, and stuffed spuds (for my potato queen). The chili was served over spaghetti noodles, which was a new one for me, but all the same it was banging and the noodles added a nice heft to the thinner chili. The burgers were true butter burgers and fantastic. The onion petals, and stuffed spuds were tasty. We left fat and happy 🀣, and that is all you can ask for!

From there, the whole crew rolled onto Luxy, where the first order of business was locking down Carter and Ryan’s usual spots near the top of the bleachers. From there we headed down to the hoppin' Track or Treat, which was well attended by drivers and fans alike. Ol' Gal and I also got the opportunity to meet Kristy, Carter's mom, who is a jack-of-all-trades at the track. I gotta admit, it's always fun to see how your buddies act around their parents πŸ˜…

As we headed back to the grandstands, a light rain settled over the track 🌧️. Before I could blink, Carter had the weather app up and it look like the rain would stay light and pass quickly. That held true as about a half hour later the sun started poking out β›…, the pack trucks hit the track, and the all cars to the track call was made. The 1/3-mile track was whipped into shape swiftly and the show went on, only a tiny bit behind schedule. I was truly impressed how quickly we went from rain to singing the national anthem, my hat is off to everyone involved 🧒

Once racing got going, and yes I know this is typical for Luxy but to me it was a bit of a new experience, the heats, b-mains, and the features clicked off with little-to-no downtown. The track ran in well under the conditions and the racing action was solid all night. All-in-all, it was a great night of racing and I was impressed with the track.

At one point, Ol' Gal and I snuck away to get some food, explore the facilities, and pick up some Luxy merch. We ended up grabbing some chicken tenders and cheese curds, which were hot, fresh, and definitely hit the spot. My Luxy hoodies is my most comfy and warmest racing hoodie too! Definitely can't beat the bang for the buck with that one! I also really enjoyed checking out the Luxy Hall of Fame, and scoping out all the articles, pictures, and memorabilia.

When it was all said and done, Jeff Richards was the Grand Nationals winner, Derek Moede topped a deep field of Street Stocks, Cole Czarneski comfortably took home the Stock Car feature, Dallas Ross was the Legends winner, Derek Fehling took home the Sport Mod checkers, Benji LaCrosse cruised to the Modified victory, Trevor Cronick was the Sport Compacts winner.

Special shout out to Travis Hansen for winning the Hard Charger Award! Also, shout out to the other Awards sponsors of the Spooky Showdown: Thriller Express LLC, Big D's Nuts , The Family of Keith, Carrie Stec - Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Bay Area Realty, and Hunter's Edge Archery!

After the final feature, Carter, Ol' Gal, and I headed to the pits to congratulate Travis on winning the Hard Charger and coming home a solid 2nd. I really enjoyed the opportunity to learn more about Travis and his racing program and really just kinda shoot the πŸ’© for a while. We also swung through Benji's trailer to say hello and pick up a shirt for Ol' Gal. We also swung through the Coy Vlies pit stall on the way out looking for merch and left with some goodies to send to an old friend.

Ol' Gal and I left with a smile on our face and a yearning to return to a track that is so far away but yet feels so close to home. And as we would find out the following morning, trying to navigate three measly bleacher steps at our youngest's football game, some very sore quads, hammies, and glutes! Dang it, Carter, why did we have to sit so high up πŸ˜†!?!

π‘Ήπ’π’„π’Œπ’†π’• π‘Ήπ’†π’”π’–π’“π’ˆπ’†π’π’„π’†. "The Rocket" Rodney Sanders swept the USMTS Spring Classic from Hamilton County Speedway, while "Rocket Shepp", Brandon Sheppard, and the Rocket 1 took a stroll through Victory Lane at Farmer City Raceway capturing his fourth Illini 100. A former Rocketman found his footing, and a Skyrocket took flight at the High Banks.

Let's 'Dish on all the big πŸ’Έ races and noteworthy performances in Late Models, Modifieds, and Stock Cars from this past week, then set our sites on the weekend ahead πŸ‘‡

πŸ‘ŸπŸ’¨ 𝑻𝒉𝒆 π‘Ήπ’–π’π’…π’π’˜π’
πŸͺΆ 🎩 The World of Outlaws Late Model Series rolled into the land of Lincoln 42 Super Late Models deep this weekend and delivered a pair of π‘ π‘’π‘π‘Ÿπ‘–π‘ π‘–π‘›π‘” winners. Friday saw Outlaw RoY contender Ethan Dotson inherit the lead following Devin Moran's calamitous encounter with a lapper and refuse to relinquish it, capturing his first ever Outlaw win and the $12,000 big check. Ricky Thornton Jr. pestered Dotson the best he could, coming home 2nd and "The Squirrel" Brian Shirly rounded out the podium. A pair Rockets, possibly in a bit of foreshadowing, in Brandon Sheppard and Tyler Erb completed the Top 5.

Saturday delivered it's own kind of π‘ π‘’π‘π‘Ÿπ‘–π‘ π‘–π‘›π‘” victory, one that shouldn't be but is, as BShepp and the Rocket 1 finally found Victory Lane on the season and marking the first win by a Rocket Chassis since the Reagan Administration (jkjk)! Sheppard turned on the afterburners a little after halfway and never looked back en route to picking up the $20,000 payday. Bobby Pierce came home a solid 2nd, while Outlaw rookie Drake Troutman finished off a very impressive weekend that saw him run up front both nights and lead the majority of Saturday's feature.

Next Up: 4/25 ($12,000) & 4/26 ($50,000) - Talladega Short Track - Alabama Gang 100

πŸŽ™οΈπŸŽ€ The MARS Modifieds provided the night cap at the Illini 100, and they didn't disappoint with 33 entries on hand. Friday was a good day to be a Mike, as Mike McKinney captured the $2,000 victory in a bit of a walk. All the same, Michael Long, Michael Ledford, Ray Bollinger, and Cole Falloway cut it up for the Top 5 before coming home in the order listed. I got a bit of a chuckle on Friday Night as Mike Norris was holding the mic interviewing McKinney, Long, and Ledford post race 🀣.

Saturday's night cap delivered a banger as Michael Ledford hunted down Cole Falloway in traffic, taking over the lead from the race long leader with only a handful to go and taking home the $2,000 payday. Falloway held on for 2nd, while last year's MARS Champ, Michael Long, came home 3rd. Chase Holland, 4th, and Kyle Hammer, 5th, completed the Top 5.

Next Up: 4/25 - Brownstown Bullring $2,000-to-win, 4/26 - Peoria Speedway $2,000-to-win.

🧹🧹 Keeping with the theme, former Rocket 1 pilot and Lucas Oil Champ, Hudson O'Neal dominated an unsanctioned, but very stout 43 car field at the 12th Annual Spring Nationals from Lucas Oil Speedway. The New Deal led all but one lap of Friday's feature cruising to the $7,000 victory, ahead of Superman, Jonathan Davenport, and 3rd place Big Sexy Brandon Overton. Mike Marlar and Mason Oberkramer completed the Top 5.

Saturday was bit more entertaining as Huddy tracked down 2nd finishing Overton for two-thirds of the race before finally getting by with 18-to-go and claiming the $20,000 dub. Mike Marlar rounded out the podium, while JD and The Triller, Cade Dillard, completed the Top 5.

🌟 The Northern Allstars Late Model and Modifieds were back in action at Florence Speedway. To nobody's surprise, Josh Rice claimed the $5,000 payday over 2nd-place Michael Chilton, Rod Conley rounded out the podium. On the Modified side of the ledger, Ben Harmon claimed the $1,200 check over Colin Green and Ryan Thomas.

Next Up: This weekend!! $10,071 Marvin O'Neal Memorial from Paragon Speedway, the Modifieds also compete for $1,500.

πŸš€πŸš€ As mentioned at the top, and all over the DirtInfo page and at DirtInfo.com, largely due to the contributions of Brad Gorman, Rodney Sanders swept the pair of $5,000 features this weekend at Webster City in entertaining fashion. Friday saw Sanders slide by the dueling Brandon Davis, 2nd, and Kyle Strickler, 3rd, in traffic, while Saturday saw Sanders inherit the lead following Tom Berry Jr's kerfuffle with a lapper. Zack VanderBeek was the runner-up Saturday, and Jim Chisholm rounded out the podium.

🫑 Hearty hat tip to Alex Williamson on a pair of top-5 finishes, both after a trip to the hot pit to replace a flat LR, nobody, anywhere in the country, passed more cars than Alex this weekend. I'm sure of it.

🫑 Also deserving of a mention are the USRA Stock Cars, with Derek Green taking the Friday feature. Saturday's feature was an absolute banger with Brandon Hare's last lap, last corner, hail Mary that stuck for the dub! With only at handful to-go, there was about a straight-away separating the leader and second running Hare, yet he somehow got to him and by him πŸ‘

πŸ’›πŸŒΎ The Heartland Modified Tour returned to action and Shadren Turner stayed hot with the series, claiming Friday's $2,000 feature from Electric City Speedway over Tyler Davis (2nd), Ryan Middaugh (3rd), Troy Gemmil (4th), and Dustin Hodges (5th).

Saturday saw Dakota Dale capture the $2,000 dub over Brandon Givens, Bobby Williams, Tyler Hibner, and Tad Davis.

Next Up: 4/5 Salt City & 4/26 Cane Valley Speedway

πŸ‘‘β˜„οΈ Kelly Shryock is the back-to-back King of the High Banks, claiming the $5,000 IMCA Stock Car victory over the stout 35 car field from Marshalltown Speedway. Maguire DeJong was the runner-up, while Dallon Murty rounded out the podium. Cole Czarnesky and Jimmy Gustin completed the Top 5.

The IMCA Mods were also in attendance at MoTown, with Tripp Ga***rd claiming Thursday's $1,000 over Cody Laney, Izac Mallicoat, Cayden Carter, and Tanner Black. Friday saw Kollin Hibdon top Tripp Ga***rd, Logan Anderson, Cayden Carter, and Chaz Baca for the $1,500 dub.

πŸ€‘ Big Perm, Daulton Wilson, claimed the $50,000 XR 602 Nationals from Fayetteville Motor Speedway over Chase Blackwell, Kenny Collins, Kendal Tucker, and Beckham Malone.

πŸ‘€ π‘³π’π’π’Œπ’Šπ’π’ˆ 𝑨𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒅
πŸ– The MARS Late Models return to action with a triple-header this weekend. Thursday sees the series visit Cedar County Raceway for the $5,000-to-win Hawkeye Land 40, before heading to 34 Raceway for the Brent Slocum Foundation hosted Slocum 50 paying $5,000 Friday and $10,555 Saturday. I suspect we'll see a very, very impressive field of cars for the Slocum 50 with both national touring series off and number guys in the general area between the Outlaws and Lucas Oil Speedway this past weekend.

πŸ’§πŸŒͺ️ The Southern Nationals Series Spring Nationals return to action Friday for $10,053-to-win from I-75 Raceway. The series heads to Tazewell Speedway Saturday for the $21,000-to-win Lil' Bill Corum Memorial. If the MacDaddy, Dale McDowell, is in attendance Saturday, he's the heavy favorite to take home that fat payday.

πŸ’˜ The COMP Cams Super Dirt Series heads to Arrowhead Speedway for the Fujita 50, paying $5,000 Friday and $10,000 Saturday. It wouldn't be too surprising to see The Thriller, Cade Dillard, in attendance and towards the front of this one.

🌩️ The Southern Thunder Super Dirt Series rolls into Southern Raceway on Saturday with $10,000 on the line. I'm guessing we'll see Joseph Joiner in attendance for this one and, if so, he'll be one of the favorites to keep the big check close to home.

πŸ’ͺ🦾 The American Racer Modified Series gets their season fired in earnest with $1,500 on the line Friday and $2,000 up top Saturday from Ark-La-Tex Speedway.

𝐓𝐨𝐩 𝟏𝟎 π‘πžπœπšπ©:
1) Rodney Sanders: Almost a carbon copy of last night, took advantage of the leaders getting into to lap traffic and passed both. This was career win #123 with the USMTS and getting warmed up just in time for the traditional Memorial Day swing.

2) Zack VanderBeek: Bested himself from the night before after making some changes to his VanderBuilt Race Cars #33. Happy with the balance of the car after a King of America weekend he'd rather forget. TBD on next race but the Memorial Day swing hits some tracks he's found Victory Lane.

3) Jim Chisholm : Good weekend for the 24c team. Took advantage of the moisture to get him into the Featherlite Podium.

4) Alex Williamson : I feel I could cut and paste last nights recap. Suffered a flat LR tire early in the feature. Once again, picked up the hard charger award and moved into the top 5 in points. Thanked the other teams who helped his team with the tire change. He mentioned he's just trying to earn the respect of others while being a low budget team. After the start he's had, I'm sure teams are taking notice of the 15w team.

5) Joe Chisholm Racing: Started on the front row and led a lap early in the feature. Just like many of the drivers in the top 10, he'd drop back only to charge back towards the front. Joe's another driver looking forward to visiting many tracks he's raced weekly at next month.

6) Kyle Brown: If Kyle could, he'd lift Hamilton County Speedway and put it in his backyard. Good momentum weekend for the 21k. Best of luck to the Brown family on their newest addition coming to the family soon. Here's to a smooth delivery and enjoying all the memories.

7) Terry Phillips Racing: A off weekend for TP. Ended it with a +10 change from start to finish in the A-main. His previous finishes during the Memorial Day swing will have the 75 team optimistic for climbing back up in the points.

8) Trevor Hughes: A steady weekend, the multi day shows at the same track helped with his learning curve. The break from USMTS will be good to freshen equipment and possibly hit the local tracks for more laps.

9) Tanner Mullens: One of those weekends for the 02 team. Hard to pass in the heat races, stuck in b-mains, worked hard for his top 10 tonight. Will be looking forward to some weekly shows close to home during the USMTS break.

10) Keith Foss: Two top 10's for the 95 team this weekend. Just like a few other drivers, yo-yo'd in the top 10 before slipping back to 10th at the finish. Between King of America and Webster City, it's been a good run for Keith leading up to the weekly shows back home.

Honorable Mention: I wanted to do something different this weekend and recognize some photographers that were in attendance this weekend. There was several in attendance likely, but these were the two that popped up in my search. Regardless, support your local track photographers and help support their efforts weekly.

Danielle Ayers Photography : I was Facebook searching who'd be at Webster City and came across her page. She's a talented photographer who's been at several tracks already this year. Along with a variety of nature, weather and animal shots. Give her a follow to find which tracks she'll be at this year. Continued success in all your work on and off the track.

Buck Monson Photo: I've been a follower of Mr. Monson's work for the over 10 years, at least. In my opinion, he is one of the most respected photographers in the country. It doesn't matter what series, what track or what class, his work is done with nothing short of professionalism and pride. Well respected among the drivers and teams, his business ranges from driver's cards, hats, shirts, clocks, covers for cars. You name it, he'll find a way to get it produced. Thanks for everything you've done for the racing community!

Honorable Mention 1.2: This one will be a personal one and the reason behind the title and why I'm doing this. Back in October, I had surgery for a double right rotator cuff tear, torn right shoulder labrum, and torn right bicep. Needless to stay it's been quite the experience and recovery process. My Doctor told me to expect at least a 6-to-9 month recovery for everything he had to repair. For several months I've been in my recliner. Between sleeping, therapy, recovery and doing these recaps. At the beginning it was fun typing with one arm while my right arm was in a sling or I was only allowed to do so much. These have kept my spirits up when I've had many bumps in the road personally the past 6 months. It was only fitting our discord group came up with the name Recliner Reactions. I'm hoping next month I can attend a few of the USMTS Memorial Day shows in person and keep my streak of at least 1 USMTS show a year active. If the Doctor thinks it's too soon, I'll continue to recap from the recliner until I get the green flag. Thanks for following along and with the growing of the DirtInfo webpage. :)

Right now, I'll recap all the USMTS events, either in person, or thanks to the fine folks at RacinDirt | USMTS, Dirt Modifieds & Live Racing Streams. The nights I'm at the track and in the pits, I'll have a race recap similar to my Mason City USMTS fair race article. A modified version of the Recliner Reactions those nights will still be available.

Top 10 Recap
1) Rodney Sanders: Starting 3rd in his "MB Buggy", Rodney bided his time during a great battle with Brandon and Kyle, taking advantage of the moment, and some lapped cars, to get by both in the same corner. Adding another win to his future USMTS hall of fame resume and moving up to 2nd in points again. Very happy his "crew chief/son" and wife were able to make it and take the big check back to the hauler.

2) Brandon Davis: Making his 2025 debut tonight, joked the car was good, the driver was a little rusty and the little engine was sticking its tongue out at the end of the straightaways. Picked up the Quick time, heat race win and nearly the sweep the night. Between Webster City and Fairmont, loves the 1/2-mile tracks that fit his driving style. A former national USRA champion, he's always been one of those "what if" drivers if he was able to get a full time USMTS ride. Perhaps a Northern Lights series driver when it comes to the tracks the 50iii visits often.

3) Kyle Strickler: Started on the pole, "upset" (we'll keep it PG, but it rhymed with "missed" and starts with a P) how he finished and used up his tires at the end. More excited that his car owner made his first A-main of the season. Will do a little better keeping track of the laps for tomorrow night. Hates to talk about points racing this early, but podium finishes have him in a good place this early in the season. Once he gets to more tracks he's familiar with plus getting comfortable with the open mod program will help with that championship run against drivers more familiar with the later season tracks.

4) Zack VanderBeek: Always enjoys coming to Webster City and normally has good results to show for it. Expanded his VanderBuilt race car business to IMCA mods and now stock cars as there are more IMCA tracks in his area and plenty of customers to support between the two sanctions. Plans are to do a "hit and miss" schedule between the 3 types of cars when it allows with business and family. This stage of his racing career, just like Jason Hughes, he deserves to have that luxury now. Good finishes and his family there is just like a win for Zack and Mr. VanderBeek (USMTS Hall of Fame crew chief and best tire prep man in the pits).

5) Alex Williamson: Another driver that enjoys coming to Webster City. Didn't enjoy getting a flat tire early in the race that sent him to the back. His crew made repairs and Alex charged through the field for a great top 5. One to watch for tomorrow night, it wouldn't be an upset, but it would be one the fans would enjoy seeing in victory lane. Picked up the hard charger award from 19th to 5th place.

6) Jim Chisholm: Night started a little more intense than the 24c team wanted to have. Initially thought a bad battery, the team was able to diagnose a bad starter when interviewed after his heat race. The team was able to make the redraw and have a top 10 run. Continues to lead in national points with a spirited battle developing between Sanders, Stricker and Mullens.

7) Tim Ward: An IMCA regular, Tim has been dipping his toe more into the open modified program. He's had some good results in the past at Mason City and Deer Creek. Plans to run more open stuff between his IMCA and Late model duties. Ran well in all 3 phases of the evening.

8) Joe Chisholm: Had a good qualifying and heat race. Just missed it a little in the feature but the never give up attitude was still on full display. What he learned tonight will be applied for tomorrow. Joe continues to lead in the ROTY standings but will take a small hit in national points. As close as the points are already, it won't be uncommon to see drivers jump and drop multiple places.

9) Keith Foss: Made the trip to Webster City after a good showing at King of America. Another driver who had a good qualifying and heat race. Look for him to move up a little higher in the results tomorrow night. Having fun getting some testing done before his local tracks start their seasons.

10) Kyle Brown: Either in his IMCA car or USMTS car, Kyle has always ran well at Webster City. A past weekly feature winner, Kyle is one to find in the top 10 at the end of the night at Webster City. Something about the dirt and track configuration has always suited his Team Harris Auto Racing car.

Honorable Mention: For being a 1/2-mile track or a little under these days, the past 3-4 years Webster City has provided exciting races. Between TBJ vs Dan Ebert, Tanner Mullens last corner pass on Tyler Wolff, Hamilton County Speedway isn't like your normal big track/little passing tracks. It had multiple grooves and plenty of passes. Tomorrow night shouldn't disappoint either. Even though the car count for USMTS may be disappointing to an outsider, the fact that the Staley family is running a handful of races again this year should be recognized. Last season they made the decision to cut back on the original schedule and step away from the promotion duties due to low car counts and fans in the stands. A replacement wasn't found by the fair board committee, rather than let it sit idle, Webster City will run a schedule of special events and memorial races thanks to the Staley family and staff.

Honorable Mention 1.2: They joked they were the "B-team" tonight, but the crew behind the mics did a great job. There was also a Heartland Tour race down in Missouri that had part of the RacinDirt team down there. Normally one of the voices at Hamilton County Speedway, Mason City Motor Speedway and fill in roles, Bryan Denekas took care of the play-by-play himself. Normally a 3-person crew at Webster City, a tip of the hat to him with all the toys he was having to monitor in the booth. Pat Graham provided the pit road reports from the catwalk and Danny Crane Racing Engine Hot Pit. Both are familiar with the area having either announced or raced in the area for many years. This helps make the show go smoothly, especially with the local support classes. They're familiar with the teams and can provide those little details a traveling announcer may miss unless they do their homework and visit the teams in the pits before the races.
