Recently got back from my first Content by Carm work trip with , aka my big sister 🤎

I was able to capture so many special moments throughout the week of Academy, met really talented business owners, and got to explore working at lots of cute coffee shops in Coeur d'Alene. It was a great trip, and I am feeling even more thankful for this career and the incredible clients I get to partner with!

Yep, it's common for all of us! However, these platforms are meant to be social, and social interactions are more about being present than being absolutely perfect! Let this be a reminder to post what you've been thinking about or inspired by, even if it isn't perfect. Your audience may even resonate more with the human imperfection of what you post!

It's crazy to look back at how the seasons of our lives and the passions we've had since we were young impact us as adults. If needed, you can always delete your post and start again, but it's good to know what is ahead before you go to post!

Your followers and future clients are likely looking at your social media profiles before even heading to your website. This means you need to ensure your social media presence is making a great first impression. Here's how!

1. Take a look at your profile page. Does it clearly communicate what you offer and how your followers can work with you? If not, it's time to make some changes.

2. Is your information up to date? If your last post was a year ago, your followers may wonder if you're still in business. Or, if your bio says you only work in Minnesota but you could work nationwide, you may be turning away clients before you even meet them.

3. Do you like the look of your profile? Does it reflect who you are? It's your ongoing portfolio, so if you're not loving it, it's time to make sure you do!

I hear this from so many business owners in the home and design industry. Oftentimes, after designing the project, seeing it move through construction, styling at the photoshoot, and then looking through the photos, you maybe feel like you've seen this project a million times. But your audience hasn't!

Even if your audience has seen every single story, post, and reel from the project from beginning to end, they still love to see it! Here are 5 unique ways to continue sharing about a project even after you've revealed it.

- Explain the story of the project (What went well? What was a challenge you overcame?)
- Share a before and after reel or post
- Talk about your favorite part of the project
- Post detailed shots from the home
- Shout out the vendors and partners who worked on the home with you!

Save this post for when you're feeling unmotivated to post those project photos. Trust me, it's worth it!

Are you struggling to create content? I'm continuing on my series of when to use which type of content with your social media! Let's talk graphics!

Implementing graphic posts into your social media content can be a really helpful way to reach your audience and share information in an aesthetic way. Plus, graphics can be used as posts or reel covers! One of the biggest benefits is that they don't require photos if you don't have finished photos of a project or if you are just starting out.

Canva is my go-to to create graphic posts for myself and my clients. They have a free version, but I've upgraded to Canva Pro, which is totally worth it!

Each month, I have specific rhythms that help ground my business and also help my clients know what to expect. One of those rhythms is a call at the end of the month with each client to discuss their upcoming content, get project updates, and hear what's going on in their business.

This is one of my favorite parts of my business because I get to hear from my clients directly about their business and how I can serve them better. It doesn't hurt that I'm also an extrovert so these interactions are really energizing!

This is one of the biggest benefits I see to social media! Yes, your future clients are using these platforms as a search engine to see who they want to work with and where they want to invest their money.

BUT these platforms are also a really important space to connect with partners in your industry. So many relationships begin on social media and then transform to be long-term partnerships that benefit both businesses.

As you build out content and your social media strategy, keep these partner relationships at top of mind. They are crucial to your business and your marketing!

Celebrating 1 whole year of Content by Carm today! ✨ As I've been reflecting back on the past year, I'm most of all thankful for all the Lord's blessings. I'm thankful I have a career I truly love, that I get to work with such incredible business owners, and for all the people I've been able to connect with throughout the past year.

Starting a business is really, really exciting, but it's also really scary. Leaving a steady corporate job (& salary) was a big leap, but it's been so worth it. I have learned SO much and will continue to learn every single day.

Thank you all for following along and for your encouragement. I'm so excited to continue serving my clients in year 2!

This one might feel a little strange, but it can be helpful! If you find yourself struggling with comparison when you open Instagram, this tip can help you set boundaries. You can mute specific accounts that you still want to follow but that you don't want to see on your feed. Or if you need to unfollow certain accounts that aren't helpful to you or your business, you can do that too!

Here's how you can mute specific accounts on Instagram:
- Go to the account's profile
- Click on "Following"
- Click "Mute"
- Choose which type of content you would like to be muted (Posts, Stories, or Notes)

Keep following to learn how to enjoy social media for your business but not let it run your life!

Here's some good news for you! You don't need to spend all day on social media in order to be engaged. Nor do you need to constantly check your phone to see what's going on! By investing 15 quality minutes to engage on social media each day, you can make a big impact.

To start out, carve out 15 minutes of your day that you can spend on social media. Whether this is in the morning, mid-day, or afternoon, choose whenever is best for you!

Then, set a timer so that you aren't distracted and spend an hour mindlessly scrolling. The point is to be intentional with this time so it doesn't take up your whole day or stress you out!

Finally, track your analytics! See how this practice impacts your metrics, and more importantly connections with your followers and those you follow.

Whether you're just starting your business, are feeling scared to start, or feeling discouraged that not everything is absolutely perfect, this is a reminder for you! It's better to start something and then grow and evolve rather than be stuck waiting for perfection.

Although I look back at some of my earliest content and posts with a bit of cringe, I'm still so proud of myself for going for it! It's true! Most business owners could post on social media. However, that doesn't mean they have the time, energy, or desire to worry about their social media marketing on top of everything else they are doing. Plus, it's key to have a social media strategy to reach their target audience, and this takes time.

So many business owners I talk to got into their career because they love what they do. They didn't start a business because they love Instagram or Facebook (unless they are social media managers!). But marketing on social media is really important way for most business owners to talk to their future clients in a personal way.
