The publication is the result of a 1939 merger of the Daily Tribune and the Blackwell Journal.The Daily Tribune was published first as the Daily World in 1915. The Blackwell Tribune began publication in 1933, and the two papers merged six years later. For 67 years, the pap

er was published at the newspaper building, located on Blackwell Avenue, before being shifted to an off-site printing format in 2007. As of summer 2015 the Blackwell Journal Tribune currently operates at 523 South Main Street, formerly in the old Smelter Offices

With potential federal program reductions such as SNAP (food stamps) set to take effect this month, one local restaurant is stepping up to make sure no one in Blackwell goes hungry.
The Stack Restaurant, located at 1423 South Main Street across from the high school parking lot, is continuing its “Pay It Forward” meal program—an initiative fueled entirely by the generosity of its customers.

Miss NOC Scholarship Pageant set for Nov. 18



The 36th annual Miss NOC will be crowned Tuesday, Nov. 18 in the Dineo Heilmann Auditorium inside the Kinzer Performing Arts Center in Tonkawa.

The program starts at 7:30 p.m.

Twelve delegates from NOC Enid and NOC Tonkawa are participating in the event.

Delegates are Addie Kyler, Ponca City, Oklahoma; Alia Dust, Winfield, Kansas; Ashley Schwarz, Baldwin City, Kansas; Carlaeona Katcher, Tonkawa, Oklahoma; Ella Branstetter, Enid, Oklahoma; Emelia Clarke, Sand Springs, Oklahoma; Hailey-Jane Holder, Belton, Texas; Haley Rutherford, Enid, Oklahoma; Jaclynn Heitman, Ponca City, Oklahoma; Jordan De Leon, Ponca City, Oklahoma; Staysha Cummins, Goltry, Oklahoma; and Zion Moore, Owasso, Oklahoma.

Miss NOC is a free event and open to the public.

For the third year, the event is combined with contestants from Enid and Tonkawa competing for the title.

Adysen Thompson was crowned Miss NOC in 2024.

Northern Oklahoma College, the state’s first public two-year community college, is a multi-campus, land-grant institution that provides high quality, accessible, and affordable educational opportunities and services.

NOC serves nearly 3,100 students through the home campus in Tonkawa, branch in Enid, and NOC/OSU Gateway Program in Stillwater. Of these students about 80% receive financial aid and/or scholarships. 75% of NOC students complete their degree with zero debt.

The college is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and offers associate degrees in three general areas: Arts, Science and Applied Science; the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs; and the Accreditation Commission for Education and Nursing.
