Audition Notice:

Local playwright Bernadette Chapman takes us to the ICU in Children’s Hospital overnight. Marie is in the waiting room as her daughter is on the surgical table waiting for her heart transplant. The waiting room grows with worried family members from a teen being shot after his football game and a daughter being rushed in from another overdose. Tensions rise as each family waits on word from the hospital staff and attempts to support each other as they process what the stakes are for their children and families.

Waiting on Word will open July 26, 2024 and close August 11, 2024.

MARIE: White, 30/40's, Single mother of teenage daughter, Aggie, who is getting heart transplant. HR Manager of Law Firm

NURSE: Any Race, 25+, Female

CALVIN: African-American, 40/50's, Father of high school quarterback, Mickel, who was shot after the game. High-level Banker.

NINA: African-American, 40's, Mother of Mickel, Wife of Calvin, Executive Director of Literacy Council

SURGICAL NURSE: Any Race, 40/50's, Male

CARSON: White, 17, Brother of Savannah who has over-dosed on he**in. Basketball player, average grades, nice kid.

LIAM: White, 40/50's, Father of Carson and Savannah, Husband of Ellie, CEO of construction company.

ELLIE: White, 40's, Mother of Carson, and Savannah, Wife of Liam, Full-time mom, Part-time community volunteer.

ADAM: Latino, 40's, Fiànce of Marie, Homicide Detective.

DIANE: Any Race, 30-60's, Transplant Organ Donation Procurement Official

DOCTOR: Any Race, 40's+, Any Gender.
