According to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, firefighters are at an increased risk for different types of cancer due to the smoke and hazardous chemicals they are exposed to in the line of duty.

Under House Bill 35, if a volunteer firefighter gets cancer because of exposure from something on the job, their family would have benefits.
