Looking Ahead:

You'll likely see chatter regarding a big cold spell for January 6-12, 2025.

I refuse to go into specifics, but I do think we could see some of the coldest air we've seen in awhile during this time frame. The European and GFS models are showing temperatures 20-30 degrees below average. It is very possible we could see wintry threats for the Southeast in this pattern.

If you see people post snow totals or extremes, use caution. It is still 7-10 days away and a lot can change. I just want you to have the First Alert that winter will come full force for the first half of January. Good idea to winterize your home if you haven't already.

Special times with special friends. Janice Rogers WBRC and her family came by our home today.
Such a sweet family and such a nice visit.

Some of my family and I went to Gadsden to eat Sunday Dinner at Top O’ The River and also got to visit Mickey and Gina at their beautiful home.
The older we get the more these simple moments mean to all of us!

‼️ FIRST ALERT WEATHER DAY: Guidance continues to highlight some elevated severe weather parameters for later today and continuing through tonight. First off, we could see some storms to the west this afternoon, with a risk for large hail and damaging wind gusts. The primary risk areawide happens later tonight as the main line out ahead of a cold front pushes east. There is a risk storms along and ahead of this line could produce hail, damaging winds, or a tornado.

The threat should be ending to the west just after midnight and the threat should end to the east by 6 AM.

The big question is how much instability will be present later tonight when this main line shifts east? In these cold season events, we often see high shear/lower instability environments. What we would like to see is a much larger area of clouds/rain through this evening to help limit severity. That said, I can’t guarantee that will happen, so it’s best to be prepared and have a plan. Unfortunately, we see setups like this often this time of year.

I always say BE PREPARED NOT SCARED. Have a plan of action in case warnings are issued. Have ways to receive alerts, a helmet, flashlight/batteries, charge mobile devices. Help spread the word to friends/family to be weather alert. We will be actively monitoring throughout the day and tonight. We will get through this together.

For timely severe weather alerts, have an app, NOAA WX Radio, and tune to live television/radio. When warnings are issued you can find us on Clear Channel Radio stations across the state and also 95.9 FM/96.3 FM in Calhoun County. We also stream on the mobile app and our television streaming app.

-What if we obey God in this, deny ourselves take up our cross today and follow Him?
