I saw him live during a solo tour in I think 1995ish. It was in a small theatre that served food. My wife and I were having burgers, waiting for the show. A limo stops in the street and out jumps David and a couple guys who were both carrying cases of beer and alcohol. David walks right into the cafe area, most people were too shocked and didn't realize what was going on. But I said "hey dave, we flew here all the way from Alaska to see you for my birthday" and he stopped at our table, shook both our hands and talked for about 30 seconds. Then walked into the bar area and went backstage. He put on a fantastic show in front of a crowd of only maybe 250 people.
Only Diamond Dave lol. From being the biggest frontman in the world, fronting one of the coolest rock bands of all time....to getting dropped off at a theatre show in a limo, walking through the cafe part of the bar, chatting with fans and then playing to 250 people (instead of the 50,000 that he use to play for).
