"This morning, I became aware of the passing of O.J. Simpson. The criminal trial's acquittal of O.J. Simpson, despite seemingly strong evidence, sparked a national debate about race and the justice system. The later civil trial verdict finding him responsible for the deaths highlighted the different burdens of proof in criminal and civil trials. I reflect on my privilege of working on behalf of the victims' families in the O.J. Simpson civil case as an expert witness. I remain content with my work in valuing Mr. Simpson's intellectual property and commercial earnings potential after his murder trial. Ultimately, my valuation of $33.5 million played a substantial role in the jury’s damages finding against Mr. Simpson. The trial's complexity and impact on both the victims and American society at large are undeniable and will continue to have enduring effects on the public perception of our justice system." -CEO & Chairman, Mark Roesler

As we continue Women's History Month, I want to draw your attention to the fabulous Josephine Baker.

Josephine Baker was a groundbreaking African-American entertainer, activist, and French Resistance agent, who rose to fame in the 1920s. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, she faced racial discrimination in the U.S. and found success in Paris, where she became one of the most celebrated performers of her time. Baker was known for her captivating stage presence, innovative dance routines, and bold fashion choices.

Beyond entertainment, Baker was a passionate advocate for civil rights and equality. She refused to perform for segregated audiences and actively supported the Civil Rights Movement, even speaking alongside Martin Luther King Jr. at the March on Washington in 1963.

During World War II, Baker used her fame to assist the French Resistance, smuggling secret messages in her sheet music and aiding refugees. Her bravery earned her numerous honors, including the Croix de Guerre and the Legion of Honour from the French government.

Josephine Baker's legacy as a trailblazing performer, activist, and humanitarian continues to inspire generations worldwide, making her an icon of empowerment and resilience.
