On February 4, 2013 we started a new Monday night edition of Pittsburgh Sportsline TV at Cip's Sports Bar in Dormont. We filmed 83 weeks of TV shows until it was sold! All of our TV shows on Monday night are rebroadcast throughout each week. We have been at Dukes Rib House & Grille in Mt. Lebanon since October 2014, every 2nd and 4th week.. No longer there! We did our First show at Atria's PNC Park on December 1, 2014. On January 5, 2015, we started filming our Monday night TV show every 1st and 3rd week! They closed so we are no longer there!! On March 16, 2015 we moved to The Smokehouse Bar and Grille to do our Monday night 1st and 3rd week TV shows! No longer there!! We were at the Royal Place on Route 88 every 1st and 3rd week starting May 4th. We will film each TV show from 7:30-8:30 pm to rebroadcast. See you there at this great venue! We had a good short run! We filmed our First show at the Meadow's Racetrack and Casino on the 49th Adios Day, August 1st! Then we filmed 2 more great shows on Friday Family Fun Night! On October 10th and 31st we will be back to film our TV show! We did this for a couple of years... So much fun with great people at the track!! We hope to be back when the time is right!! We were at The Park House (403 East Ohio Street) the 2nd and 4th week of each month starting in September. Join us at this Historic venue! The whispers around the league were growing louder. Could Ty Cobb, the master of "small ball," adapt to the new era of baseball where power ruled supreme? By 1925, Cobb had already spent years lamenting the shift from strategic play to the spectacle of the home run. But on May 5 of that year, in a game that would etch his name deeper into baseball lore, Cobb silenced the critics and proved that even at 38, he could outshine the young sluggers in their own game.
The stage was set at Sportsman’s Park in St. Louis. Facing the formidable Browns, Cobb stepped up to the plate with a determination that belied his age. What unfolded next was nothing short of miraculous. Cobb, known more for his speed and precision than brute strength, launched three home runs over the fence, going an astonishing 6-for-6. By the end of the day, Cobb had shattered the modern-era record for total bases in a game with 16, a record previously held by High Pockets Kelly.
Cobb's performance was a masterclass in adaptability. He started the day with a two-run homer off Bullet Joe Bush in the first inning, followed by another off Elam Vangilder in the second. As if to remind everyone of his versatility, he doubled in the fourth, singled in the sixth, crushed another homer in the eighth, and finished with an infield single in the ninth. This wasn't just a fluke; it was a statement.
Despite his disdain for the power-hitting style that was sweeping the nation, Cobb's .378 batting average, 102 RBIs, and an American League-leading 1.066 OPS in 1925 proved that he could excel in any era. He may have criticized the focus on home runs, but on that unforgettable day in St. Louis, Cobb showed that he could not only keep up with the new generation but outshine them.
Cobb’s historic performance was a reminder to all that the essence of baseball was not just in power but in mastery, strategy, and the sheer will to win. His three-home run game was only the seventh of its kind in modern baseball history, but for Cobb, it was just another day of defying expectations.
As he continued to dominate even in his later years, Cobb’s legacy was cemented not just as a master of the old game but as a force to be reckoned with in the new Live Ball era. He retired with a career batting average of .366, still the highest in history, and remains one of the game's greatest icons.
