Multi-instrumentalist and impressive songwriter Dale Keppley recently wrapped up work in the studio on his latest project "Cronies and Kin". The words and music in this CD were inspired by places, happenings, and memorable situations with family and friends along life's way...things that we can perhaps all relate to. Depending on the particular inspiration, the music Dale created as their reflections run the gamut of intimate and contemplative to back porch relaxing to straight out rock. Pretty cool!. Here’s another video by my clever 10 yr old granddaughter Sahana. She made it one day last week when she was home from school for an old song of Jay’s, the allegory One Windy Day. I got to sing a little harmony and play a little trumpet on this one when we produced the song some 10-12 years ago.

I haven’t checked with Sahana, but she may be available for hire 😜.

Commonly known as the flea song this song shows a recreation of our world in a flea world! This video is enjoyable for both children and adults.

So proud of my 10 yr old granddaughter Sahana who, all by her lonesome, created this video for my son Jay Brown's song "Nothing is Yours, Nothing is Mine". She also made her recording debut with this back in 2017 when I recorded the song and Sahana was just 5. You can hear her come in on the last chorus.
The song made it in to Jay's just released 3 CD Set- The Best of Jay Brown.

From Higher Ground Studios to you all, best wishes for a Happy and Musical New Year!!

If your New Years resolution includes finally getting that musical project recorded, or even if you’ve given up on resolutions a long time ago, you’re invited to come on in and take advantage of these studio denizens that have seen quite a few New Years come and go themselves. They still have plenty of music in them just waiting to be released in the right hands.

This Fender Rhodes 88 key Mark I Stage Piano was manufactured in 1978…coming up on its 45t birthday and still in fantastic shape.

Check out this very old Gibson Les Paul GA40 guitar amp with Gold Tone speaker. I can’t be sure when it was made, but it was probably 1952 or shortly thereafter. We had it re-tubed around 15 years ago, but everything that goes through it still sounds like butter!

The guitar is one of the younger “oldies”, a limited edition Taylor model GA-MC, so a Grand Auditorium body style with cedar top and mahogany back and sides, issued in 1995. Three hundred of these guitars were made, and this guitar is number 166. (A big thank you to Herb Trotman of Fretted Instruments for telling me “you should try this one” so many years ago!} This was Taylor’s first foray into the cedar and mahogany combination, and the limited edition was received with so much tremendous approval that they incorporated the GA-MC in to their standard lineup. It is indeed a fantastic finger picking guitar.
