We won an Iggy! Beyond stoked to announce that Cycling Without Age - The Movie received the inaugural Lens of Hope Award at the Heartland Film presented by TDB Family Foundation

Big thanks to all these amazing folks for supporting and recognizing films that spark action and dialogue. With their help, we got trishaws into the Living Room Theaters Indy and rallied the Indianapolis cycling community for an encore screening at Bicycle Garage Indy. Couldn’t have asked for a better North American Premiere.

Shout out to Cotopaxi, MOVE Santa Barbara County, and all the pedalers who helped get this story to the screen.

Also, that gnome statue 🤌

Stoked to announce that our short film A Way Forward, filmed in Kenya with World Bicycle Relief, has won the Dan Eldon Activist Award at the 2021 The MY HERO Project Film Festival! Dan’s work has inspired us since our very early days behind the camera, and the quote above was the first frame of our very first documentary. Thank you Kathy Eldon for the huge honor.

We sat down with Ryan Cruz from the Santa Barbara Independentto talk about the film, our journey with Pedal Born, and work with WBR. Check it out here:

A little nature moment for your Thursday.

This past spring, we had the opportunity to document how is reimagining Enchanted Hills Camp in the wake of the Napa fires of 2017.

One of the longest running summer camps in the country, EHC gives blind and visually impaired campers of all ages a safe place to get out into nature. To paddle a canoe. To ride a horse. To climb a tree. To push their limits.

We all need more places like this.

It can be easy to think of riding a bike as child’s play. Something for the kids. A pastime that we might grow out of once we get car keys.

As these lovely young-at-heart ladies showed us, that couldn’t be further from the truth. There is something about moving through the world on two (or in this case three) wheels that resonates with all of us, regardless of how much silver we have our hair.

Excited to be working with Cycling Without Age Santa Barbara on a new film about how pedal power can rekindle some of that childlike wonder and sense of inner peace for those who may not be able to pedal themselves.

Especially with the isolation that many older adults faced and continue to face in light of the pandemic, there couldn’t be a more important time to tell this story. Thank you ladies for reminding us that you are never too old to seek out adventure on wheels.

Three years ago, on our first day of filming in Malawi with , we met Maggie and Febby. What was supposed to be a one day shoot quickly turned into four. These young women shared their stories of trauma and overcoming with poise and grace that went well beyond their years. We couldn’t be more humbled and honored to share their voices on this .

Island Visions: Stories of Wonder from the Channel Islands
4:30 PM - 5:00 PM
Just off the California coast lies an island chain full of wonder and mystery. It is home to tiny island foxes battling extinction, gigantic blue whales with hearts the size of cars, and towering underwater forests of kelp with more tenants than a Manhattan skyscraper. Join authors and illustrators Jacob Seigel Brielle and Isaac Seigel-Boettner as they share incredible stories of these isles from their new book Island Visions, a tome of wonder that weaves together the voices of Chumash elders, world-renowned scientists, solace-seeking surfers, spiky sea urchins, and more.

Feels more than a bit strange, but so grateful to be back behind the camera! Spent the last week peeking behind the curtain at Trove, an awesome company that helps folks like Patagonia, Levi's, REI, Arc'teryx, and EILEEN FISHER reimagine the way we outfit ourselves.

Pedaling around the Bay Area for the past decade, we have seen many streets go from Paris-Roubaix cobbles and car dodging to smooth tarmac and green lanes. Much of this is thanks to the tireless efforts of the awesome folks at Bike East Bay.

In December, we had the opportunity to showcase their work in helping to radically reshape Telegraph Avenue, transforming it from cyclist and pedestrian death trap to a place where riders of all ages can now safely pedal.

Support your local bike coalition. These are the folks who are making roads safer for all of us!

Last year had us frequently looking back so that we could look forward. Digging into the archives for some much-needed inspiration in these crazy times, we put together a retrospective of our first ten years of pedaling pictures. We have been incredibly fortunate to travel the world, cameras in hand, and be welcomed by so many amazing individuals who entrusted us to tell their stories.

Looking forward to many more miles of travel and minutes of timecode in the years to come. We hope these stories and images bring you a bit of hope for the potential of this coming year, and beyond.

Back in 2016, we worked with the amazing Mimi Armstrong DeGruy to film an interview with one of our heroes: Her Deepness Sylvia A. Earle. The interview was part of a Diving Deep, a documentary about another one of our heroes and mentors, ocean filmmaker and human exclamation point Mike deGruy. Mike taught us that every creature, no matter how many arms, legs, or eyes that they might have, has a story that is worth listening to.

Today, Diving Deep goes live on iTunes and Amazon. Go grab a copy, dive in, and experience the magic of our very blue planet through Mike’s magical storytelling.

Mike, thanks for reminding us to constantly be on the lookout for wonder.
