We get to eat, play, and stay our way from the lush Hāmākua Coast to the resorts of sunny Kohala, giving our whole ‘ohana the opportunity to discover (or rediscover) what makes this place so magical.

Since we live on the east side of the island, one thing we never miss is a West Hawai'i sunset. Sometimes we watch the sun dip below the horizon while dining with our toes in the sand at Hau Tree restaurant or, on occasion, we enjoy the view from a perfectly positioned hot tub like the one at The Westin Hāpuna Beach Resort."

"Backpackers have an advantage to escape crowds. The TetonCrest Trail in Grand Teton is one of those places for finding pockets of solitude. The trail is uncrowded compared to the park's valley trails. The mountaintop route sends my heart soaring.Above Hurricane Pass and Schoolroom Glacier, I love turning east off the trail to climb up to the ridge for lunch with nobody else around and eyeful views of the back side of the Grand Teton. Jagged mountains traipse off in all directions from this top-of-the-world precipice, where after lunch, I have to tear myself away to descend the trail."
