Happy publication day to Moon Camino de Santiago! 🥾 Here’s what author Beebe Bahrami loves about the Camino:
“Writing about the Camino de Santiago is a pilgrimage within a pilgrimage, each day an unknown, sprinkled abundantly with both gifts and challenges. And often, the two are bound together: The harder I work and dig into the great history, legacy, cultures, languages, traditions, and foods and wines of the Camino de Santiago in France, Spain, and Portugal, the more the remarkable gifts appear like trail magic. These can be hidden stories a local decides to tell me over an after-dinner drink or from stopping to talk--or better, help--as they stir a large pot of quince jam on a single burner set up in their front garden, or gather chestnuts in the local forest. These can be the many layers of an archaeological site that reveal deeper legacies or new insights about the Camino as a sacred landscape. These can be new revelations about a quiet hidden chapel in a corner of a familiar pilgrim church offering new meanings or deeper pre-Christian lineages. Each day is a wonder as I set off on foot, inquire, stop to talk, stay observant, note wildlife as much as local culture, and remain open to what the Camino has to teach me. Days are long. Nights are long. But it's all deeply worth it and greatly satisfying, not to mention a tremendous privilege to be deeply immersed in this remarkable pilgrimage trail and its legends, lands, and cultures.”
