Berkeley police caught a break Monday in a robbery investigation that began last week. The city's Flock camera system, which alerts BPD when cars linked to crimes enter the city, led investigators to a white Chevrolet Silverado on University Avenue that had been used in a recent robbery.

"The suspects pushed the victim to the ground, kicked him while he was down and stole his gold iPhone," authorities said.

A federal judge ruled this week in the city of Berkeley's favor, giving it permission to close a homeless encampment at Ohlone Park. In his ruling Wednesday, Judge Haywood Gilliam Jr. denied a request by the Berkeley Homeless Union to block action at the camp as the case proceeds.

The judge also denied a request by the Berkeley Homeless Union to order both sides to sit down to work out a settlement.
