We head up to one of our favorite destinations Lake Winnipeg in the search of the girls first Greenback Walleyes! We also add in the extra excitement of ice camping!

We get on a good school of fish and never let them leave our site! We had an unreal trip with lots of firsts and so many big fish! We also breakdown exactly what we did out on the ice for you!

Almost done with the edit and kind of sad it’s almost done. It’s so fun videoing and editing your own family trip! So many times we just started smiling or busting out laughing! This one is a good mix of lifestyle and educational as we dive into exactly how we targeted the infamous Lake Winnipeg “Greenback”

~ Lake Winnipeg Report ~

Another awesome trip up to the Big Windy is in the books! This should be on everyone’s bucket list! So glad we brought the kids!

This year we switched it up a bit and went to the east side and went out of Beaconia Landing. Ice conditions for driving a truck were fair. You are able to get pretty much anywhere you want but it is extremely rough in areas. There is a good pressure ridge just out of the access so be careful where you cross.

We headed out approx. 4.5 miles and got away from all the traffic. We spent the early part of the morning finding broken up ice. We came across a snow packed pressure ridge which is exactly what we were looking for! Once we found this we traveled along it for a couple miles and came across the spot! It was holding a lot of fish and the right ones! If your not seeing 8-12 fish on live keep moving! Once we found the school we stayed on them with our Humminbird Live! These fish are adapting to the pinging of FFS so we would use live to stay on them and our Vexilar LLC FLX-38 on low frequency and low power or humminbird on down view once we were back on them!

Our setup was:
Rods: Thorne Bros. Walleye Sweetheart
Reels: Piscifun Carbon XII 1000
Line: PowerPro Fishing 10lb braid with a 12lb fluoro leader
Tackle: Clam Outdoors Leech Flutter Spoon Wonderbread, Gem-n-eye and Rattlin PT spoons tipped with minnow head

We ice camped with the kiddos! Such a fun experience! We highly recommend bringing the whole family as it was so much fun watching the kids crush fish after fish!

So much fun watching these kiddos getting to experience such awesome moments and making memories!!

These are the days that we as a family will look back on and say “remember that one time” or “remember that trip we took” it’s so awesome to create these memories as a family as this is what you can hold onto for ever. No one can take them away from you!

We are so grateful for God, family, friends and health and are we are excited for another fun action packed year!

Yesterday we jumped on the edge of a snow packed pressure ridge and hunted them down. Came across a spot that was holding a lot of fish and a lot of big fish pretty early in the day and we were able to stay on em!

We setup camp last night and continued to mark giants but they weren’t as willing to bite after dark. Woke up this morning and man was it an insane bite for the last day of 2024!!

We hope everyone has their best year yet in 2025!!

It feels really good to be back up north bending the Walleye Sweethearts on a pile of greenbacks!!

It was a smash fest with a good handful of really big fish that made the sing! Truly an unreal fishery!

Per usual Wonderbread Leech Flutter Spoon was the ticket!

The highlight of the day was both girls caught their first ever greenbacks 😊

These fish are truly special and there’s only one way they get this big and that’s letting em go! There’s no doubt with today’s technology it is getting easier and easier to find these bites and a special fishery that takes years to create can be killed in a fast hurry!

When you have kids and look to their future and their kids future you can only hope they get these same opportunities!

Let em go…let em grow and practice CPR!

We shot an awesome video for Thorne Bros. packed full of big fish!! Christmas break is our favorite time of year to spend quality time as a family doing what we love! Be on the look out soon for this video to drop!

We have had a chance to now to try out a few new products and can give some honest feedback. The new Clam Outdoors Shuttle is very clean, light and has all the accessories you would want on it! The handle is very ergonomically sound and the big arrow is awesome for showing direction of where the fish are when scoping by yourself! It’s been pretty fun with our Humminbird Helix 15 screen on it.

The new Clam heater is very beefed up and being able to dial the temp to exactly where you want it instead of just high med and low is very nice with the thermal houses these days!

It has been fun dialing in all the new options on the new Vexilar LLC FLX38. Multiple zoom windows, 15 different frequencies and the new Pro Pack are few of the biggest differences! This powered by a Dakota Lithium Batteries makes it an absolute power house!

Another really fun family trip to JR's Corner Access on Red Lake! The bite was HOT and man did we have some fun! Most of our fish came off the jigging sticks using a Clam Outdoors glow/blue and chartreuse Rattlin PT Spoon tipped with a minnow head.

One of our favorite parts of a JR’s stay is catching your fish, bringing them to the bar, filleting them and having a good ol fish fry right on the spot!

We can’t wait to get back up there!!
