It’s Microphone Monday! The Lewitt LCT 440 Pure. This thing seems to always make its way onto sessions. Great as a room mic, vocals and just about anything. Great to have in the corner and ready to go. When inspiration strikes this guy is ready.

It’s Microphone Monday! Today it’s our V44s. This is an amazing stereo microphone. It’s our go-to for room on pretty much everything. Drums, choirs, acoustic guitars, you name it, it’s great at it. It gives you that listen back as if you were right there in the room.

Microphone Monday with our Royer 121 25th anniversary edition Rose. This ribbon mic sounds as sweet as it looks. Currently Parked in front of our Fender amp. This is a beautiful guitar cab microphone, and string microphone as well as all the beautiful ribbon duties.

It’s Microphone Monday! Today is the Electro-Voice RE20. This is built like a tank and is a studio work-horse. This is the go-to mic for countless radio stations and is equally great in the recording studio. We use this on anything from horns to hi hats. It’s great to show off this microphone and we think it’s pretty awesome that EV is headquartered right here in Minnesota!

It’s Microphone Monday! Today is the Sennheiser MD 421. This is a great option on electronic guitars and on toms. A dynamic mic that can handle some pretty high SPL. A wonderful microphone to have in the locker!

It’s microphone Monday! Today is the Studio Projects C1 gen1. I have used this guy on just about everything, but as a drummer myself, it’s been a great outside kick microphone.

Better late than never. This Microphone Monday on a Halloween Tuesday. With snow on the ground and it feeling more like Christmas than Halloween… Today we bring out our AKG D112. This thing has been in my kick drum since 2001! It’s always got my back on the beat.

It’s Microphone Monday. Today is our AKG 451b. This microphone usually gets the “prestigious” job of hi hat. The thing about hi hats is when you don’t record it, that’s when you need it. This mic shines at, well, making it sound like a hi hat. It also does a great job as overheads, on acoustic guitars and a multitude of hand percussion.

It’s Microphone Monday. Today is the Coles 4038. This ribbon mic originally designed by the BBC is a go to for horns, acoustics, and in today’s use as an overhead microphone! As always with my ribbons, I only run them on cable!

It’s Microphone Monday. Today it’s our trusty Shure SM7b. What can we say to a microphone that was the choice of Bruce Sweden, when he was recording vocals on Michael Jackson’s, Thriller Album. This dynamic microphone is a rockstar on vocals and finds it way on to the HiHat every once in a while.

It’s Microphone Monday and today we are looking at the Cascade Fathead II. This is one of our lovely ribbon microphones. It is an awesome microphone on guitar cabs, drum overheads, horns, and mandolins! Looking at this today I believe they are now made by Pinnacle Microphones and called Fat Tops. Still a wonderful microphone!

It’s microphone Monday! Today is the Neumann KM 184. This is our go to acoustic guitar microphone. It’s also great on so many other sources. It’s a secret weapon on hi hat as well. Neumann makes wonderful great sounding microphones.

It’s microphone Monday! Today is one of our favorites, the Neumann TLM 103. We have had this one for quite a while, and it sounds fantastic on about anything you put it in front of. It’s been a go-to vocal microphone, but has found it’s way in front of strings, choirs and even an orchestra.

It’s what I’m calling Microphone Monday and we are featuring our MD441. This thing is an awesome secret weapon on tracking vocals with acoustic guitars. You would often times see this microphone in front of Stevie Nicks. I also spotted one on the Late show capturing the great trumpet playing of Herb Alpert! This is an amazing microphone, and are fortunate enough to have it in our mic locker.

Today we are going to show off our AKG 414. We have a pair of these and they sound amazing on all sorts of things. Vocals, Drum Over-heads, Acoustic Guitar, Piano, and of course tambourine. Another favorite is bringing these in on toms.
