“The fact that you could get a remote camera picture of a cougar and then scurry in there within an hour, pick up the soil that its paw was placed on and capture some kind of EDNA from it is mind-blowing. What is it that’s in that soil that the cougar has left behind, is one question.”

Top secret military dolphins, exploding whales, and invasive green crabs. These are all things Dr. Eily Andruszkiewicz Allan is interested in learning more about. And she is doing it all with the help of a simple cup of water. It’s a revolutionary bit of technology called eDNA and it is changing the way biologists are doing field work. eDNA could hold the mysteries of a new frontier in our understanding of the natural world.

This was an incredibly special day. In April 2022 I took my buddy Jason into the mountains to go and look for signs of a wolf in a place I just had a hunch about.
The odds were against us, because there was only ONE known wolf on this west side of the North Cascades mountains.
They’ve been obliterated by humans here and across the USA over the last 200 years. I knew the wolf could be around but never expected to find such amazing evidence - it was a sign!
This week- 2 and a half years after that moment, we release our episode of ‘THE WILD with Chris Morgan’ podcast to tell the full story of these resilient and awe-inspiring creatures that will not be held back.
We have so much to learn from them!!

Our backyards are getting bigger. And the cougar’s front yard is getting smaller. In this episode, (a fan favorite) we search out some of these big cats to understand the impact cougars and humans have on each other.

It's pretty simple really, if we protect the habitat of the world’s 8 bear species, we protect over 1/3 of the earth’s land surface & a family of keystone species that are so integral to preserving biodiversity. Healthy forests, mountains, wetlands, rivers, lakes, oceans...all the things that bears AND humans need in order to survive. Because what's good for bears, is good for people. #EarthDay2024

Happy international polar bear day!
I saw this beauty in one of my favorite locations on earth. Svalbard – Spitzbergen, a stunning archipelago in the High Arctic. I’ve spent a lot of time there, studying the delicate food chain that supports this massive carnivore.
Here’s a couple ideas of how to learn more about this magnificent creature we celebrate today…check out my film BEARTREK or have a listen to our podcast episodes featuring polar bears.
You can find both at my site & search for polar bears on the podcast page.
See link in bio! Cheers!!
