This is 42.
41 was definitely not the year I had ordered, by any stretch of the imagination, but I also am pretty certain it’s the year God had planned for me for a lot of reasons I may never know, or cannot see yet.
It was one of the hardest years I’ve had in a long time, personally and professionally, on every level.
It was a breaking point of realizing I’ve cared what people think about me and trying to be “perfect” for far too long, and to fit into people’s box of whatever they thought I should be.
It was a year of slamming a lot of doors shut (with caught fingers a lot of the time) on things that were no longer serve my highest good, or the woman that I was fighting so hard to become.
It was a year of getting to know me and chasing the REAL me, learning to have more authentic, vulnerable and real, and raw relationships, and letting the chapters close on anything that wasn’t that.
It was a year of making my mental, physical, and spiritual health a priority and not always going to the extreme in work and my personal life, but fighting hard to find and create a balance.
It also was a year that let me slow down for the past several months to truly be there with our sweet Popeye as he fought and eventually lost his battle to cancer, and learn more than ever how much THIS MOMENT is all that truly matters.
Although it was a year of more heartbreak and challenges than I hope 42 is filled with, I still am living a life that the past me one day dreamed of.
However, here’s to 42. To continuing to chase and be my very best and highest self. To learning to not give two $h!ts about what people think of me, as long as I know I am being the woman God called me to be and being true to myself. Here’s to amazing memories with a small circle of people I hold so near and dear to my heart. To making Popeye so incredibly proud of me and doing whatever I need to do to save as many more lives like his in the process and let his legacy live on.
Thank you for all the messages and warm wishes yesterday and for those of you that have always encouraged and supported the TRUE me, the one that doesn’t need to always care so damn much about what the world thinks of me. 🤍
