Well hey there! tom from moongrass here, reporting from the distant future…

It’s been TEN YEARS to the day since Moongrass released our second album Shadow in the Country. It’s absolutely bizarre to look back at 2015 from where I’m sitting today, to think about the creative moment we found ourselves in as a band, to think about the community and the scene we were part of, to think about the people and spaces we’ve lost and gained and the ways my life has shifted.

I have been staying up nights over the last couple months working on some cassette tapes to commemorate this album’s birthday. I bought some blank tapes, stamped them at my kitchen table, reworked the album art that Don did for us way back when, and sat and dubbed these 25 tapes 3 at a time. It was an interesting meditation on this album and the passage of time, which I wrote about over at ogsrecords.com

wildly late posting this as usual but... 4/20 was the 10 year anniversary of Stone Jones' album Walking Down F Street so we put it up on the streaming services to celebrate! Matney is livestreaming on her facebook tonight at 7, playing tunes from the album and talking about the process of bringing this record to life.

The second single, "Love Of Mine", off of Matney Cook's forthcoming debut album "Natural Time" (Apr 2, 2021) is available right now on bandcamp, spotify, apple music, and all the rest.

Love Of Mine is a dang powerful love song, and stirs my blood everytime I hear it. When Matney first played it for me, I was surprised by the intensity of my emotional response, and playing it live with her has always been a thrill. It was also thrilling to hear this version she recorded with Ken Stringfellow for the album, and I'm glad to be able to finally show it to you all.

On March 19th we’re releasing the second single from Matney Cook‘s solo debut Natural Time. The song is called Love Of Mine and it is powerful and beautiful and I love it. We filmed this little video for it on our phones and JK Film Co helped us out by editing it. It’ll be on Matney’s youtube channel on Friday, and the song will be up on bandcamp, spotify, apple music, and all the rest. Matney is also doing a livestream over on her fb to celebrate, go say hi! I’ll throw a link down in the comments.

Hello and happy valentines day, friends and lovers. I'm happy to welcome the heartthrob Stone Jones to the OGS roster! We've got his two albums "Walking Down F Street" and "Jones Road" available on CD shippable to your doorstep right now, and hopefully on streaming relatively soon.

Matney Cook's first single off her first solo album is OUT NOW on spotify, bandcamp, and other places too.

Natural Time is a lesson in patience and faith, and a sorely needed balm of optimism in this current moment. This song gets deeply stuck in my head whenever I listen to it, and serves to remind me to allow space for progress and healing. It reminds me to keep looking forward and that one day, this too shall pass. Thanks for such a beautiful song, Matney.

It’s the last bandcamp friday of the year! Bandcamp is the one platform that we actually make money from, and once a month they’ve been forgoing their share of the proceeds and passing it 100% to the artists.
