Former President Jimmy Carter passed away yesterday at the age of 100.

The American Philatelic Center recently installed a new Free Frank exhibit, made possible by Myron and Judy Kaller. The exhibit includes this cachet cover autographed by President Carter on his Inauguration Day, January 20, 1977. It is one of two Philatelic Inaugural Day Covers franked by the President and presented to the Speaker of the House, Thomas P. O'Neill Jr., who later donated the cover to an auction. There were only five such covers created by President Carter that day.

December 17th is Wright Brothers Day, a day to celebrate the first successful flights made by Orville and Wilbur Wright in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina in 1903.
