Dogs, dolphins, pizza with my son, in the sun. Santa, shopping, working, and a whole lot of fun. What a wonderful Saturday in Beaufort!
Many of y'all know that running a page isn't the only thing I do:
#1) I am a husband to the smartest and most beautiful redhead to ever come out of Carteret County and father to two boys who my world revolves around.
#2) I am a real estate agent (Greg Moss, Realtor, Beaufort Realty), and this was my weekend in the office. We are a small firm with four world class agents and we cycle through who works what weekend, and I was blessed that I had the first two weekends of this month off which allowed me to attend (and live stream) our kids parades.
#3) Then comes all my other fun things, such as the Why Beaufort NC page, the Beaufort Bike Rental, the community activities, etc.
But what made today so much fun was that I got to have so many of those interact in such a fun way!
The day started off with real estate things; visiting a property with some clients, continuing negotiations on a different property, speaking with some sellers about painting and updating, talking with a seller about time frame for listing a different one. All the things that go into the life of a full time real estate agent.
I physically got to the office around 10, and it was SUCH a beautiful day! It felt more like late March than the weekend before Christmas with that beautiful sunshine, sparkling waves, and dolphins out and about! I decided to enjoy the outdoors for a few minutes and filmed my little video about why shopping locally is so important (one of the things I am passionate about!), sat on Santa's knee, saw the dolphins, then headed back to the office for more real rstate things.
My lovely wife and my 14 year old had errands to run over in Morehead, and my 17 year old had Carteret Community Theatre practice for the upcoming production of Annie, so we were scattered about a bit, but when my eldest boy wrapped up with practice I offered for him to come join me for lunch downtown.
While I was waiting for him to arrive, my friend/neighbor/client/assistant Arlene called to see if I was downtown, and if I was, could I come out to the Finz Grill dock and take a couple of pictures of her and her husband Ken's two adorable Leonberger pups, Dante and Duncan. They were out boating with another friend/client, and were coming down Taylor's Creek and were stopping in at FINZ Bar & Grill to get gas. Well sure! Why not come and say hello to 315 or so pounds of dogs (oh, and some people too!) Such a cool visit!
Isaac arrived and we decided that it was the perfect day for some waterfront pizza from Black Sheep Beaufort. We strolled down the boardwalk enjoying the sights (more dolphins, which Arlene and Ken's dogs love seeing from the boat!), and enjoyed seeing all the folks dressed up in their Christmas finest and silliest for the Claus Crawl.
Isaac and I ate outside (love getting a winter tan while eating outdoors!); He went with the Pedro and I opted for the Whenny...both our pizzas were AMAZING! We shared a piece with each other, and had a fun and thorough discussion on if we should eat it all, or bring a little home. I am proud to say that two slices of our pies survived to be enjoyed another day!
After that, he had to do a little Christmas shopping, so I headed back to the office while he visited Beaudega, The General Store, and Kitty Hawk Kites. We hung for a few minutes at the office before he headed out to run a few more errands.
What a fun and spectacular Beaufort day. This is what I love about life here. Some days you may not travel more than five minutes from your home and yet get to experience so much. All this is not including the amazing sunset (will post those pics later), all the Christmas decorations and lights, coming home to watch the hockey game with my wife (absolutely heartbreaking loss tonight...these last two games have been ROUGH!) and the hundred other things that go into life. But to be able to experience so much in one day makes life in a little town like this so exciting and special.
