‼️Warning Farming Activities ‼️
Harvested our first hog yesterday. We processed in some cold and windy weather but a perfect day for the job at hand. We ground 80 lbs of sausage. Ended up with some great looking chops and two sides of bacon. It’s reassuring to know where our meat is coming from and how the animal was treated.

This big boy will be the sire for our 2024 piglets. I’m ordering semen and breeding the first of next month. Piglets will be born late May and early June.

Lord give me a cold weekend to put this hog in the freezer. I measured my pigs tonight for weight. You multiply G x G x L =_____ then divide by 400, this gives an approximation of live weight +/- 10 lbs. The one I have picked out for the freezer used to be my smallest. It is now the heaviest, weighing in at an estimated 431 lbs at 10 months old. My goal was 300 lbs by 12 months. The other two hogs are 416 lbs and 412 lbs. I couldn’t be happier with this endeavor.
