The Sea Coast Echo is the official newspaper of Hancock County, Mississippi, founded in January 1892. Moreau, who co-owned the paper with business partner one-time Pass Christian Coast Beacon manager W.L. The newspaper has famously missed only two issues during its long history. One date was 1918 when the publisher's daughter succumbed to plague. The second was in 1969 in the aftermath Hurricane C

History would not repeat itself in 2005 after Hurricane Katrina made Bay St. Louis and Waveland its ground zero: The newspaper was produced at a sister newspaper in Kentucky and trucked to the devastated Gulf Coast where residents were clamoring for local news. The paper is now owned by Alabama-based Lancaster Management Inc. It is published weekly on Wednesday.

The Bayside Fire Department Christmas Parade is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 16. The parade will start at 7 p.m. at the school on Lakeshore Road, turn into Bayside on Hancock Drive, travel down Hancock Drive, wrap around Smith's Family Grocery, turn back onto Hancock Drive, turn left onto West Adams, left at Jasper Street, travel down to West Hinds, right onto West Hinds and end at the fire station (6218 West Hinds) where the department will have Santa Claus for all the kiddos to have their pictures taken with Santa.

MDEQ Lifts Beach Water Contact Advisory for Bay St. Louis Beach

The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ), through its Beach Monitoring Program, has lifted the beach water contact advisory for Bay St. Louis Beach.

Water samples at this station show the area has reached acceptable bacteria levels. There are no beach water contact advisories on the Mississippi Gulf Coast currently.

Again, the ADVISORY has been LIFTED for:

Bay St. Louis Beach -- the affected area was from the Box Culvert east to Ballantine St. (Station 4)
Swimmers are reminded that the Beach Task Force has a standing recommendation that swimming should not occur during or within 24 hours of significant rainfall.

🦃 No services on Thanksgiving Day, November 23rd.
🍂 Thursday routes will roll out on Friday, November 24th.
🚛 Friday routes will be picked up on Saturday, November 25th.

To ensure a smooth pickup, please have your cart(s) ready at the curb the night before or by 4am on the day of service. Regular schedules resume on Monday, November 27th.

City of Bay St. Louis Lifts Burn Ban

The City of Bay St. Louis announces the lifting of the burn ban, effective immediately. Residents are now permitted to engage in outdoor burning activities but are reminded to obtain a fire permit from the City authorities.

In light of the recent rain, the decision has been made to lift the burn ban. However, the City urges all residents to exercise caution and adhere to safety guidelines when conducting outdoor burning.

To obtain a fire permit, but contact Bay St Louis Fire Department at 228-467-4736. It is crucial to ensure that all safety measures are taken, and burning activities are conducted responsibly.

“We appreciate the community’s cooperation during the burn ban period. While the ban is lifted, we emphasize the importance of obtaining a fire permit and practicing caution to prevent any unwanted incidents. Safety remains our top priority,” said Chief Monty Strong , Fire Chief of the City of Bay St. Louis.

Residents are reminded to stay informed about any additional safety measures and updates by visiting the official City of Bay St. Louis website and social media channels.
