✨ Behind the Creativity: A Spotlight on Baton Rouge’s Innovator Dre ✨
In this exclusive interview, Dre shares the passion, challenges, and growth behind his journey as a creative in Baton Rouge, as well as his vision for Greater Works Gallery.
🌟 Geaux Create: What inspired you to become a creative? 📸 Dre: Growing up, I’d ride down I-10 and wonder how billboards were made—intrigued by the colors, fonts, and photo quality. I’ve been drawing since I could hold a pencil, and even though art wasn’t seen as a career in the early 2000s, I found my voice through my family’s encouragement and my love for the process of creating.
🌟 Geaux Create: What’s a project you’re especially proud of? 📸 Dre: I’m especially proud of my wife’s graduation photos when she earned her master’s. She did it while working full-time, studying full-time, and raising two kids. I’m also excited about creating media content for ZHS athletes. I taught those kids, and seeing them thrive and supporting them is incredibly rewarding. They inspire me to stay creative.
🌟 Geaux Create: What do you wish people understood about the creative process? 📸 Dre: I don’t want people to fully understand. I want them to feel on edge, wondering. Art is about not being predictable, ruffling feathers, and still creating something amazing.
🌟 Geaux Create: Anything else you’d like to share? 📸 Dre: This career has been a blessing to my mental health. I’ve struggled with self-worth and often tied my identity to my work. I’m learning to do it because it’s fun, to appreciate the genuine love I receive, and to remember that without people, none of this matters.
