Attention South Carolina Small Business Owners

South Carolina Information about Income Tax

Individuals who had a valid extension to file their 2022 federal tax return due to run out on October 16, 2023 now have until February 15, 2024. This is not an extension to payments related to 2022 tax returns as those payments were due on April 18, 2023.
Individuals and households that reside or have businesses in all 46 counties in South Carolina qualify for federal tax relief.
Federal Tax Relief

The IRS announced on September 6th, that taxpayers and businesses affected by Hurricane Idalia in all 46 counties in South Carolina qualify for tax relief. These taxpayers now have until February 15, 2023 to file various federal individual and business tax returns and pay any taxes that were originally due from August 29, 2023 through February 15, 2023. Individuals who had a valid extension to file their 2022 federal tax return due to run out on October 16, 2023 now have until February 15, 2024 to file their 2022 federal tax return. This is not an extension to payments related to 2022 tax returns as those payments were due on April 18, 2023.

The February 15, 2024, deadline also applies to quarterly estimated tax payments, normally due on September 15, 2023 and January 16, 2024. Businesses with an original or extended due date (including calendar-year partnerships and S corporations) whose 2022 extensions run out on September 15, 2023 and calendar-year corporations whose 2022 extensions run out on October 16, 2023, also qualify for the February 15, 2024 deadline.

Penalties on payroll and excise tax deposits due on or after August 29, 2023, and before September 13, 2023, will be abated as long as the tax deposits are made by September 13, 2023.

State of South Carolina Tax Relief

As of September 6, 2023, the State of South Carolina has not officially announced any state tax relief. Check back for more updates.

This week, I discovered that I had some water damage from Helene, that I was not aware of...

In what was previously just a storage building, that I have since turned into my online store, I thought had no damage.
I was wrong.
Everything is covered in mold...

Some of my props and teaching tools were ruined.
Many of them were more than 25 years old.
I guess I got my money's worth if I had them for 25 years.

AND I have about a dozen suitcases that I was going to donate to children in foster care.

I don't know if I will be able to get them clean, fresh and smelling/looking good, but I am going to give it a try.

We are changing things up at SPA...
I will be posting great questions that are asked of me by licensees.
I will also be posting an accurate, clear explanation of the answer.
This Association was created to help the Professionals in our industry.
I want people to know how things work, why things are like they are, and what we can do about it. I can tell you that we can ALWAYS do something about "it". I am positive of that, as several times I was told that something was a certain way and that there was nothing anybody could do about it. So, I FOUGHT to get the Laws changed. Yes, sometimes it took me a couple of years to get it done. But it GOT DONE.
I know how much stronger a group of people are than just one.
This ONE person is ready for change, and I think that most of you are too.

I am EXTREMELY excited about NSHA's proposed classes for 2025, it will be NSHA's 29th year!

Of course, there are still available the same types of classes that everyone has been teaching for the the last four years, in the 4hr CEs. We HAVE to teach on Health, Safety, Sanitation and/or Laws, under the new regulations. But, the new ones that I have proposed are really cool, in my opinion.

If you have ever attended any of my classes before, you know that I want to make sure that you learn while in class, if you pay attention.
Here are some things that I have changed. 1. NOW, the process will be easier and your hours will be IMMEDIATELY sent to USC for processing!
2. ALSO, my classes will all have discounts available for early bird specials, but seating is limited.
3, AND, my new website will be finished on or before 10.1.2024. There you will be able to register and pay for the classes, submit your required paperwork in advance, and take advantage of the discounts, if you are an Early Bird. I can not wait to see your beautiful faces again!

PS. I have NO MORE brain fog! REALLY, all this time, it was a medicine that I was taking... UGH

Y'all, Josh is hilarious. He said to me, "You are the smartest you have ever been since I have known you." He is correct. I started taking a medicine in 2015, after learning that my marriage of many years was a joke. I have always suffered with depression and insomnia (Matthew gets it honestly). I was put on a medicine to address both issues. I noticed over time that cognitively, I was declining. I can't tell you how many times I asked about the possibility of that medicine (anti-depressant & sleep aid) possibly affecting me negatively. I was told over and over that it was not the cause... I was sent to a neurologist, and then another neurologist. Then, I went to the 3rd neurologist. He told me that he knew what the problem was before he even examined me. He told me to stop taking that one medicine. That was May 7th. Y'all, my brain is back. The fog is gone and my ability to do math, spell and my photographic memory have all returned. The point that I am trying to make is that I know my body better than any medical professional. I could have stopped taking the medicine, but I really needed something to not be sad and to be able to sleep. I literally spent nine years not operating at my full capacity. I really thought that I had dementia or Alzheimer's, it was scary. The "things" that I have been able to accomplish since May 7th, prove to me that I was absolutely correct in continuing to address the situation until it was resolved. That is all... I am thankful, grateful and blessed.

I will take my first clients on Friday, the 13th, beginning at 7am.

After studying Ayurveda for the last several years, I am now offering some Ayurvedic Treatments.
These treatments are performed with substances that are naturally occurring in the world.
We use plants, milks. oils. herbs, flowers, etc.

There are no artificial or synthetic chemicals.

We still need a Nail Technician and a public member.
We have been so long without having a full Board of Cosmetology in SC.
The Governor is the only one who can appoint people.
It seems like we are always the last to be taken care of...
FYI- THE NUMBERS OF UNLICENSED PEOPLE AND SALONS IS RIDICULOUS!
I am so thrilled that Salon Professionals Alliance (SPA) is working on this issue.
We have a lot to do!
