Entrepreneur of the Year award was awarded to Ashley Armstrong. Available to accept this most prestigious award was her mother, Lois Armstrong!

Ashley, is a farmer and she does really well planting, growing, harvesting peas, corn, beans, watermelon, greens, etc. If it is your desire to cook great farm raised fruits and vegetables, Armstrong Farms is the place to get fresh produce! The farm is located on the Mer Rouge/Collinston Highway!

Armstrong Farm has been in business for a long time…..the farm started out with her grandfather, then her dad and now she is carrying on the family farm! To hop up on a tractor 🚜 is nothing new to her….she has been doing this for a long time being out on the workplace with her father, Harper Armstrong!

Congratulations, Ashley! Job well done!

Mr. Ivory Smith was named as Humanitarian of the year at the Mardi Gras Annual Scholarship Fundraiser! Mr. Smith is well known in the community and has contributed to many people, organizations, etc. throughout the Morehouse Parish! He donated land on Meeks Street in Bastrop to give children a place to play and the community to enjoy! The park, he named in honor of his father & father in law…..the Ralph/George Park! The list can go on and on because he is such an extraordinary man that has given so much of his time to the community! Born and raised in Minden, Louisiana…..when coming to Bastrop, this is where he homestead!

He was married to the late Lula Davenport Smith and they have a son, Michial Smith!

Mr. Smith recently had his 90th birthday this month! He looks great for his age!
