Paulding County 4-H’ers Compete in Project Achievement Competition
Paulding County 4-H’ers were extremely busy this winter as many of them competed in multiple Project Achievement public speaking competitions. Project Achievement is one of the largest and most exciting, challenging, and rewarding programs offered by Georgia 4-H. 4-H’ers choose a project area of interest, research the topic, and then write and present an oral presentation to others.
For Cloverleafs, students in 4th-6th grade, this process is about hands-on learning, self-confidence, and sharing knowledge with others. For Juniors, 7th-8th grade, 4-H’ers are expected to produce lengthier presentations and submit a portfolio reflecting their service and knowledge in their selected project area. Senior Project Achievement, 9th- 12th, is the pinnacle of Project Achievement. Presentations and portfolios become longer and more involved for Senior 4-H’ers. District winners at the Senior level attend State 4-H Congress, where over 200 youth from across Georgia deliver 10 to 12-minute presentations in various project areas and meet with judges to discuss their portfolio of project work, leadership, and service. First-place winners gain the title of “Master 4-H’er” and are then invited to attend National 4-H Congress.
Paulding 4-H hosted a successful County Cloverleaf Project Achievement public speaking competition on February 15, 2025. Eighty-three Paulding County 4-H’ers competed in this annual competition, with representation from each of the nineteen Paulding County elementary schools. These 4-H’ers represented over 30 different program areas, including Agriculture, Computer Information Technology, Marine and Coastal Ecology, History, Wildlife, Sports, and Performing Arts. Forty-eight of these 4-H’ers went on to compete at the district competition in Douglasville on March 22, 2025. Paulding County had the second highest level of participation at the Douglasville District Project Achievement Competition.
The Junior/Senior District Project Achievement competition took place on March 1, 2025, at Rock Eagle 4-H Center in Eatonton, GA. Paulding County 4-H congratulates the twelve Paulding County 4-H’ers who competed and excelled at this event. A special congratulations goes to Savannah Blalock of South Paulding High School. Savannah placed 1st in “Festive Foods for Health” and will represent Paulding County at the State Congress this summer.
Paulding County 4-H would like to congratulate and thank all of the 4-H’ers for their hard work and dedication. A big thank you goes out to the parents, because none of this would have been possible without your support. An additional thank you is extended to Cobb EMC Community Foundation and Carroll EMC for their support of this event.

Pet of the Week
Hayden is a very sweet boy who is good with others and would love to find a loving home. He is always so excited to get out of his run and meet lots of people. We would love to see him in a home that will show him the basics since he has not had a foundation.
Please come by the shelter and fall in love with Hayden!

Diverse Experiences from the Vietnam War with 4 Paulding County Veterans
Join the Paulding County Genealogical Society with four outstanding veterans who will discuss their diverse experiences during the Vietnam War. Our guest speakers, Mike Anderson, Glenn Burch, Kieth Butler, and Grady Hayes Jr., are Paulding County natives who have come together with a willingness to share their wartime stories. This will be the first time these amazing veterans have presented their history in a public setting. Each of these gentlemen has submitted marvelous photographs from the Vietnam era that will be presented as a slideshow during this program. This program is not to be missed! Our entire team at the Paulding County Genealogical Society is truly honored to have this opportunity to bring these incredible stories of sacrifice and heroism to our audience.

Paulding Public Safety Appreciation, Inc.

National Police Week occurs each year in May and is a time of honor, remembrance, and peer support, where law enforcement, survivors, and citizens gather and pay homage to those who gave their lives in the line of duty. This year, Sheriff Henson is committed to ensuring that members of Deputy Brandon Cunningham’s family, along with a few deputies, can attend National Police Week in Washington, D.C., this May. During this time, Brandon’s name will be inscribed on the National Law Enforcement Memorial.

To make this trip possible and ensure our Sheriff’s Office is properly represented, we are seeking financial support from local businesses, organizations, and individuals.
To assist with fundraising, Paulding Public Safety Appreciation, Inc. (PPSA) is partnering with the Sheriff’s Office to raffle off two fi****ms:
• Head Down Provectus .223 Rifle with a collapsible buttstock
• G***k Pistol (winner’s choice of model)
Ticket Prices: $15 per ticket or $20 for a combo

Purchase Tickets Online: https://givebutter.com/CunninghamNPWFundraiser

Chattahoochee Technical College is set to launch its Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) program after receiving the prestigious Air Agency Certificate from the Federal Aviation Administration. This certification authorizes Chattahoochee Tech to operate an approved Aviation Maintenance Technician School (AMTS), ensuring that the college meets all FAA requirements. The new program is designed to equip students with the technical skills needed to diagnose and repair aircraft power plants, both reciprocating and turbine, as well as airframes, both metal and wood. Graduates will be eligible to participate in the FAA powerplant and airframe examinations in order to earn their A&P certifications.
Starting this summer, the new five-semester program will be held Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., with priority enrollment for current Chatt Tech students in Avionics or Aircraft Structural Technology courses. This program includes 81 credit hours and 1,695 contact hours of direct instruction and hands-on training, all taking place in-person at the college’s new Aviation Training Academy in Paulding County, near the Paulding Northwest Atlanta Airport. “This FAA certification reflects our dedication to the rigorous process involved in training aviation maintenance professionals,” said Jason Tanner, Executive Vice President for Academic Instruction at Chattahoochee Tech. “As the demand continues to grow for these essential workers, we’re proud to provide students with the skilled training they need for successful careers in this industry.”
The Chattahoochee Tech Aviation Training Academy, which celebrated its grand opening on April 26, 2024, is a state-of-the-art, three-story facility spanning over 55,000 square feet. It includes a 12,000 square-foot hangar, along with instructional labs, classrooms, and a technical library. The Aviation Training Academy was designed by Croft & Associates, a Georgia-based national architecture, design, and engineering firm, with construction provided by Winter Construction, an award-winning commercial builder based in Georgia.
