UPDATE 9:40 AM: Repair is complete and water service is restored.

Original Post:

A water main break was reported this morning at approximately 6:30 AM on Byhalia Rd. between Powell Rd. and Gunnison. Our crews have isolated the break and are working on repairs. We expect the process to take several hours.

Approximately 50 homes, as well as Collierville Christian Church, will be without water during this time.

We appreciate your patience as we work to restore service as quickly as possible.

When snowflakes start falling, we know many of you will be excited to grab your sleds and enjoy the winter fun!

However, we want to remind everyone that the former landfill area, often referred to as the "E-Plex" (or Mount Trashmore) is off-limits. The site is currently undergoing important construction by the state to cap it properly and ensure long-term safety. It is an active construction site and trespassing is not permitted.

When you head out to enjoy the snow, here are a few reminders to help everyone have a great time:

• Be a Good Neighbor: respect private property and avoid sledding in areas where you don’t have permission.
• Park Responsibly: don’t block driveways, roads, or emergency vehicle access when parking near sledding spots.
• Be Safe: take it slow driving through neighborhoods with kids out and about and don't pull sleds behind your vehicle.

Let’s work together to make snowy days safe, fun, and memorable for everyone in our community. Stay warm, and happy sledding or skiing - depending on how much snow we get Friday!

Just who is the The Collierville Herald-Independent? ... The Collierville Herald-Independent is your hometown newspaper

The Collierville Herald-Independent, has a wonderful place in Collierville history. We have had the incredible opportunity to watch the town grow from a small farming community to one of the most desirable places to live in west Tennessee.

From Community balls and picnics in the 1870s, horse racing on a track built in 1898 near Highways 72 and 57, bank robberies in the 1930s and the reign of the first Cheese Carnival queen in 1935, we’ve been here through it all. And today, we continue to cover the important events in our community, from commercial and industrial growth to the new state-of-the-art high school, the largest in the state.

We have documented the change from life on the the quaint town square to the ever-growing town of Collierville. We look forward to school, shopping, housing and commercial growth happening in the Collierville area. Through it all, we will continue to partner with you to bring you the best local news and information.
