Heads up if you're going to St. Louis and other points south and west on Interstate 55 this weekend.

A full closure of westbound Interstate 55/64 from the I-55/64/70 interchange to the Poplar Street Bridge in East St. Louis will begin from 9 p.m. May 3 until 5 a.m. May 6, for patching and resurfacing.

Westbound I-55/64 lanes, including all ramps to and from westbound I-55/64 within the project limits, will be closed. The westbound lanes of the Martin Luther King Bridge also will be closed. Weekday traffic will not be impacted.

The ramp from westbound I-55/64 to westbound I-70, northbound Illinois 3, and eastbound I-64 will remain open. Eastbound Martin Luther King Bridge and the ramp from northbound Illinois 3 to westbound I-55/64 will also remain open this weekend.

The Barry Apple Festival Committee is seeking a volunteer to take over the parade committee. It is a big task and takes a number of people working behind the scenes to make it work. It is also a very rewarding experience to watch one of the most iconic events of the festival take place and know that you were the reason for it. Our outgoing chair will guide you through the process as the year progresses. This is a committee that needs filled quickly, as the summer is when a good deal of the planning takes place. If you are interested in volunteering for this, please contact any member of the executive committee and we will help you get started. I personally want to thank all the people who reached out to myself and my family. We are thankful for so many calls, texts, cards, messages, flowers, check ins, and for food being dropped off. We are grateful for all of you. The sudden loss of someone so healthy is just hard to understand and comprehend. Kale lived and loved life to the fullest. My brother will be deeply missed but always be with us in our hearts. ❤️ We will have a celebration of life on Saturday June 8, 2024. Ron Walch

Pike County Fair Pleasant Hill

We are looking to add more Merchandise Vendors in the Blue Building for the fair this year. We are also going to have exhibits displayed in the building with Bear Hollow wood carvers setup on the east end outside of the building. It is our hope that those two attractions will increase foot traffic through the building.
