Saturday October 26th starting at 4pm there will be a dinner and silent auction benefit for Ernie Scarrit, As most of you are aware Erine is a Reserve Deputy for the Carlisle County Sheriff's Office, as well the Chief of Milburn Volunteer Fire Dept. He also works full-time as a Deputy Jailer for the McCracken County Jail. Ernie has dedicated his life to public service and more specifically the citizens of Carlisle County. Please come out and show him some love and support. Ernie was recently diagnosed with cancer and his medical bills are stacking up rather quickly. This is a great opportunity to give back to a man that would do anything for anybody. We hope to see you there.

If you would like to support Ernie but are unable to attend a monetary donation can be made at Citizens Deposit Bank.

UPDATE 11:30PM:

After a reevaluation of current conditions at the crash site, the evacuation order was lifted and residents were allowed to return to their homes.

Emergency Management and firefighters will remain onsite until the situation is mitigated.

KY Hwy 123 remains closed between KY 80 and the Carlisle County line near Berkley.

————————————————

EMERGENCY NOTICE

Residents in the area of Northwest Hickman County near the Hickman County/Carlisle County line on KY 123.

Due to a change in the situation at the site of the propane truck incident from earlier in the day, residents of Hickman County within one mile of the accident scene are being evacuated at this time. The approximate one mile location is the intersection of KY 123 & KY 80.

The roadway remains closed at this time for an undetermined amount of time.

An Emergency Shelter is being established at the Columbus Baptist Church for anyone needing a place to go.

First Responders have been on this scene since approximately 11:30 a.m. Responders were able to rescue the occupants of the vehicle and get them to medical treatment. Since that time, Responders have been working diligently to control the fire and mitigate the hazards caused by the accident. The extreme heat and nature of the hazardous materials involved have delayed the conclusion of this incident.

Some residents of the area have been without power since the incident began.

Hickman County Emergency Management would like to thank all the First Responders from Hickman County and all the mutual aid agencies from Fulton County and Carlisle County including Carlisle County Emergency Management. All of the fire departments in these counties are made up of volunteers who risk their lives on every call to help those in need in their communities no matter the emergency or the weather conditions.

Additional information will be posted as needed.
