Grandfather Mountain, the private attraction run by the Grandfather Mountain Stewardship Foundation, has announced that it will reopen to guests on Wednesday, Oct. 23 at 9 a.m. The Western North Carolina nonprofit nature park has been closed since Sept. 26, the day before Hurricane Helene tore through the southeastern part of the country, leaving behind unimaginable effects on the communities surrounding Grandfather Mountain.

Newcomers Megan Hasse and Kyleigh Hogan join Ensemble Stage Audience favorites, Scott Douglas Wilson and Mark Woodard in this charmingly sweet, funny play. Don’t let the title fool you. This show has nothing to do with a brewery or drinking, but it’s sure to put a smile on your face all the same.

The show is approx. 1 hour and 50 minutes in length including intermission.

The Schaefer Center Presents series, presented by Appalachian State University’s Office of Arts and Cultural Programs, welcomes intertribal collective Indigenous Enterprise in “Indigenous Liberation,” an evening of powwow, fancy dress and jingle dress dance, Nov. 16 at 7pm at the Schaefer Center for the Performing Arts. Showcasing traditional dance with dazzling regalia and a contemporary flair, the Phoenix, Arizona-based dance troupe brings their rich cultural heritage to life with a dynamic performance of dance and song that is rooted in tradition but flavored with cotemporary hip-hop, bounce and attitude.

Indigenous Enterprise takes the Schaefer Center stage this month! On Thursday, November 16 at 7pm, the Native American intertribal dance troupe brings their rich cultural heritage to life with a dynamic performance of powwow, fancy dress and jingle dress dance that is rooted in tradition but flavored with hip-hop, a contemporary flair, and attitude.

On Thursday, November 9, the Appalachian Theater will host The Gibson Brothers, Eric and Leigh, in their debut performance on the Doc Watson Stage for Americana Music. The performance by the multi-award winning duet begins at 7:30 p.m. and doors open at 7:00 p.m.
