Tomorrow is Mr. Pork Chop Jr Day, when we will celebrate our friend Matt Bernhard, Mr. Pork Chop Jr., who passed away on March 24, 2024.

Bernhard took the wheel of the signature pink Pork Chop bus in 2008 and had been grilling up the signature pork chops on route since. Stop by the RAGBRAI merchandise trailers or the infamous pink bus (approx. 48 miles out on route) to get your Mr. Pork Chop Jr. Commemorative sticker.

The difficult decision has been made to not open the swimming pool for the current season. We understand this is disappointing news, and we apologize for any inconvenience it may cause.

There are several factors that contributed to this decision. Primarily, the pool is still waiting on critical parts that were ordered months ago but remain on backorder. Additionally, we are required to have a state inspection after work is completed, and the remaining time in the season is limited.

We want to express our sincere gratitude to Norma Foster and Beth Pederson for their efforts in organizing and staffing the lifeguard positions. We also extend our appreciation to the young people who took the initiative to become certified lifeguards and hope we see them come back next year.

As we continue with work at the pool, we will keep you updated on any future developments.

We would like to inform the public about a multi-agency/multi-county training exercise scheduled for June 12, 2024, from 1-5:00pm at North Union School-Armstrong.
This collaborative effort involves various first response agencies working together to ensure the highest level of preparedness.

Again, we want the public to be aware of and to avoid this area during the time of the Exercise.
