The company is named after the Homestead Publishing Co., the family farm of John D. Worthington Jr. who published The Aegis from 1920 until his death in 1964. His grandson, John D. Worthington IV, is publisher today. is on Hays Street in downtown Bel Air in a recently expanded building. Its commercial printing operation, based entirely in Bel Air, has recently grown by leaps and bounds with boosted frequency of The Aegis to biweekly publication and additional printing work associated with the Baltimore Sun Co.'s purchase of Patuxent Publishing Company in 1998. Patuxent Publishing Company, based in Columbia, Maryland, publishes 13 community newspapers in Howard and Baltimore counties. Together, Homestead Publishing Co. and Patuxent form the Baltimore Sun Community Newspaper Group.
