I’m excited to share this new episode of The Truth In This Art, where I reconnect with Ariel Shelton, co-Executive Director of CultureWorks Greater Philadelphia. Today’s new episode is here! I’m talking with Derrick Adams, renowned multidisciplinary artist and curator of Inviting Light, and Tonya Miller-Hall, Senior Advisor for the Mayor’s Office of Arts & Culture, about the exciting public art project, Inviting Light, coming to Baltimore’s Station North Arts District in 2025!

Inviting Light will illuminate the neighborhood with five site-specific installations, brightening up this historic cultural hub and transforming it into a vibrant public art destination. Baltimore beat out 200 other cities for this Bloomberg Philanthropies Public Art Challenge grant to transform Station North through art!

We discuss the project’s inspiration, its focus on community engagement, and how it aims to revitalize Station North. Hear about the selection of local artists, the collaboration with community partners, and the broader vision for art’s impact on Baltimore.
