This Friday August 16, 2024, PPD will be participating in the Special Olympics of Indiana's, Dunkin Donuts “Cop on a Rooftop” event. At this special event, Dunkin Donuts partners with local law enforcement and the Special Olympics of Indiana to raise money and awareness for the Special Olympics Torch Run and other events.

Several PPD officers, including Chief Prewitt, will be on hand at the Plainfield Dunkin Donuts location at 2120 Stafford Road this Friday from 5:00 A.M.-12:00 P.M. During this statewide fundraiser, hundreds of local law enforcement officers will stake out Dunkin’ rooftops all over the United States to heighten awareness and raise money for the Special Olympics. Guests who make a donation to the Special Olympics will receive a free donut coupon. You can make that donation in the drive thru that morning either by cash or Venmo app. So come on down this Friday morning and visit us at the Plainfield location and help us raise more than other agencies participating around us. We will have an Olympian athlete at our location that morning also. See ya then!

NEW information in the drunk driving case that led to the death of Hendricks County Sheriff's Deputy Fred Fislar. Plainfield Police confirm 20-year-old Juan Gomez, a Guatemala citizen, was here illegally when they say he was driving drunk and crashed into a utility pole. Deputy Fislar was killed when he went to help Gomez and came into contact with downed power lines.

According to law enforcement this was the second drunk driving case for Gomez this year. According to court records, since the death of Deputy Fislar, Gomez pleaded guilty to a March drunk driving arrest.

Gomez is set to be sentenced for the March drunk driving case on August 14th the same day he is scheduled for his bench trial on the new April drunk driving crash involving Deputy Fislar.

Plainfield Police say Gomez's ACE was .229 - almost three times the legal limit when he ran into the utility pole. ICE also has a detainer on Gomez. He remains in the Hendricks County Jail. His bond was revoked after the second drunk driving case.

He faces charges of:

Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated Endangering a Person
Operating a Vehicle With an ACE of .15 or More
Operating a Vehicle Without Ever Receiving a License
Minor Consuming Alcohol

All 4 charges are misdemeanors
