Normally I put in 35 psi on my old school rides, but wanted a smoother ride on the boardwalk so I upped the ante the other day. Panaracers said 40 to 80 psi so wasn’t expecting an issue…and all the sudden POW!!!
Blowout! As a kid, I remember hucking my bike home from the gas station air compressor BItD was a bummer so I reacqll the tubes were meant for 35psi. So definitely a creature of habit…but on occasion I’ll go for it, with generally same result which can spoil any ride.
So what do any of you with some old school riders do relative to pumping the psi in the 80’s range? I know the guys told me they’ve been doing that forever so I’m wondering what’s the trick to putting that much air on the old school wheels.
