“Gaming saved my mental health when my father was killed in the wtc attacks. I was an 18 year old kid furious and confused why I couldn't see my father anymore. I just graduated high school and was accepted into college at Texas state university. I couldn't even attend the first year due to finances. I worked that summer of 2001 until sept 11th. I was in nyc praying as first responders searched thru the rubble in nyc hoping he was alive. My hero never made it out of the second building after saving lives. Outside of basketball & family It was his game system he gave me earlier that year called NEO-GEO that kept my mind from racing and falling into the wrong crowds. the next year I believe xbox and halo came out and you couldn't get me off that game. I started hosting game events at my mother's house in 2002 before online gaming was a thing I had a LAN setup. when I finally made it to college my roommate happens to be the same game nerd I was. shortly after I had a studio built in honor of my father who loved music and games. offered every neighborhood kid and family here to chase dreams or just stay out of trouble. it became more than that, it is the heart of my now gentrified neighborhood. this is where the youngest child to the oldest adult come to enjoy the scenery and humbling atmosphere. we talk, we game, learn & we listen to each other. people here leave a different and better person and we just want to continue offering that. I have gave all I have without no assistance for over 10 years. We saved lives like him helped people achieve dreams and motivate to do the same for others. with your help, blessing and guidance I hope to be capable of doing this for the next 20+ years to come.”
