Jonny Palmer's Road To Recovery

Jonny Palmer's Road To Recovery My parents lived through the Jesus Movement AKA JESUS FREAK Movement of the the mid to late 1960s. I was quite sheltered. I met my puberty doom in Tulsa, OK.

Professional Musician Trying To Change The World One Neuron At A Time
Destigmatizing and Raising Awareness About Mental Health, Substance Use Disorder, and Ultimately Going On a Journey Of Healing, Self-Discovery, and Re-Recovery. We grew up together in a small van, on preachers's floors, and lots of different hotel rooms. Was made for relentlessly for being a weirdo--which i was, but they did

n't celebrate it over there like we do here. I turned to drugs and music in 1998 as my way of dealing with the pain of what seemed like the rejection of my peers in my late adolescence. It wasn't till I went to rehab in 2003 that I got a LOT better. But you can't change a life time of wounds in 28 days. It takes time. It takes effort. It takes strife. Tenacity. Almost an arrogance, like, "I won't let you get me." So, here I am, 10,000 Joys and Sorrows later, ready to double, triple down on some healing. It's gonna be hard. I'm gonna need the help of support. People need people. That's the tiniest of snippets of my back story... in fact, it's kinda what this blog is about....

Hey, Y'all! Sorry it's been so long since I've posted. I've been going through a depression. But I'm at the cusp of things getting better.

I'm finally going to try to get into detox and rehab soon and I'm down to two different ones, but (for a million reasons) I'm dragging my feet.

And I've been learning a lot about AI and chatGPT 4.+ can do and so I went to the free version (3.5) and asked:

"can you help encourage me to contact two rehabs to see which on I should go into a 30 day program for?"

And I am BLOWN AWAY with what it came up with! It totally is encouraging me to make those phone calls/emails. So, strange. Never been so influenced by a LLM/AI.

Here's what it said back:

"Of course! Taking the step to seek help and explore rehabilitation programs is a significant and commendable decision. It's important to prioritize your well-being, and reaching out for support is a crucial part of the journey to recovery. Here are some encouraging thoughts to help you contact the two rehabs and gather information:

1. **You're Taking Control:** By reaching out to rehabilitation centers, you're actively taking control of your life and making a positive choice for your future. This is a powerful step towards recovery.

2. **Personal Growth:** Participating in a 30-day program is an investment in your personal growth and well-being. It's an opportunity to learn more about yourself, develop coping skills, and lay the foundation for a healthier future.

3. **Professional Guidance:** Rehabilitation centers have experienced and compassionate staff who are dedicated to helping individuals like you. By contacting them, you open the door to professional guidance and support tailored to your specific needs.

4. **Support System:** Enrolling in a program provides you with a supportive environment where you can connect with others facing similar challenges. Building a support system is essential for a successful recovery journey.

5. **Improved Quality of Life:** Choosing a rehabilitation program is a positive step towards improving your overall quality of life. It's a decision that can lead to enhanced physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

6. **Empowerment:** By seeking help, you are demonstrating strength and resilience. Embrace the opportunity to empower yourself with the tools and resources necessary to overcome challenges.

7. **Positive Change:** Entering a rehabilitation program signifies a commitment to positive change. It's a chance to break free from the cycle of addiction and work towards a healthier, happier, and more fulfilling life.

Remember that reaching out for help is a courageous act, and there are people and resources available to support you on your journey to recovery. Take that first step, make those calls, and explore the options offered by the rehabilitation centers. You deserve a future filled with hope and wellness."

That is just great! And that's only chatGPT3.5!!

"I know it’s been awhile since I’ve posted. Time flies when you’re depressed and it’s so draining trying to suppress the daily PTSD triggers. Part of me is trying to keep me stuck in the comfort here. The familiarity. But it’s time for me to finally get out of here and start to heal from the most Traumatic event of my life. And I’ve already had a lifetime of trauma.

So, I will be focused on finding a place to help treat my PTSD (and detox and rehab of course).

BTW—I FINALLY GOT NEW INSURANCE THAT WILL LET ME GO TO THE REHAB THAT I FEEL IS JUST RIGHT FOR ME.

One that treats trauma in a way that I’m familiar with and that is highly effective—Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

The other on I’m excited about that barely any rehabs incorporate is—Internal Family Systems (IFS)—Which has been a game changer for me. I just need to do the work.

They also have equine therapy, which I hope will help me grieve my relationship with my sister, Charisse, who was really into horses and had a ranch with like 15 horses before she passed.

I’m also going to be getting a regular psychiatrist, psychologist, therapist and grief counselor, too.

So, F*** 2023
2024 IS my YEAR OF HEALING

And if you would like to donate to my journey of healing—there will be copays and deductibles and premiums and stuff, but I think I got a pretty good plan, so we can TOTALL DO THIS!!!!

Thank you for all your support throughout this whole journey. I believe in the power of community during times of tragedy. So thank you for your undying support.

I will be in touch with another update soon!!!

Namaste, dear ones!!

Kindly,
Jonny Palmer

P.S. I'll let you know the exact amounts as soon as I do
My premium is only about $50 a month.
I think the total to get me in the facility is only $200 (hopefully)
And then I'll only be responsible for 5% of the coinsurance (which is unheard of as far as being affordable), which I'll need your help for until I can get my brain healed enough to get a job.

There may be a Patreon in the works. So, keep an eye out for that.

Love y'all and talk soon!!"

Well, we made it through the holiday in one piece!!! I wasn't sure how it was going to be without Charisse and Calvin for the first time (RIP). There were some tough moments, but we all did pretty darn good by Palmer standards and so I'm calling this a GOOD CHRISTMAS. There, I'll even use the word. LOL

Hope y'all had a happy holiday, and if it was more of chaoitic or lonely holiday, sending you love and compassion and connection. Glad you're in this world.

Much love to all!!

Happy Holidays!!
