CLA's Legislative Affairs Committee met this morning to discuss recent proposed legislation. This week, CLA submitted written testimony opposing HB25-1119 Require Disclosures of Climate Emissions. This bill brought concerns about adding further reporting requirements for not only Scope 1 and 2 but also 3 emissions and the unintended consequences rural communities could face with this type of legislation. The bill was postponed indefinitely at the end of yesterday's hearing. CLA continues to represent the best interests of Colorado’s farming and ranching families. CLA thanks President Trump and USDA-APHIS for their work to implement a new protocol to continue the importation of feeder cattle from Mexico and protect the U.S. cattle herd from foreign animal diseases and pests.

Mexican feeder cattle are a small but important segment of the supply chain, especially when domestic feeder cattle supplies are low – like today.

CLA will continue to work with President Trump, future Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins, and the professionals at USDA-APHIS to protect the U.S. cattle herd.
