3rd Annual Community Day! | NeighborWorks Week 2024 | 6/8/2024

Today we were able to witness something amazing on the west side of Aurora. Today The Neighbor Project celebrated their 3rd Annual Community Day event, part of #neighborworksweek and NeighborWorks America efforts nationally! Wednesday they hosted an Ice Cream Party with cones sponsored by Hairy Beast Dog Pawlour, and Friday a Gardening Party with plants donated by Nide Jardin. Today saw the special unveiling of a new sign for our customer service center at Everlasting Word Church (22 N. Highland). The Neighbor Project was also pleased to welcome Congressman Bill Foster and thanked him for his efforts in supporting the combined work with Association for Individual Development & Hesed House as well. What an amazing morning! Today we held our 3rd episode of Faith Breakfast Hour, our faith-based cooking show with Fresh Start City Church. Bi-monthly on Monday's we spend 1 hour basking in God's glory while enjoying breakfast, answering your questions and teaching you some amazing dishes! This morning we made "Sancocho" which is an amazingly tasty Puerto Rican stew with lots of vegetables and meat. With a focus on the local community we aim to highlight all aspects of Aurora, IL. starting from downtown. Each day we will discuss current initiatives in the City of Aurora and let our listener’s know what’s going on. From education and the arts to history and restaurants; we keep our listener’s informed!

This podcast was created with two unwavering goals: the first is Social Justice. Our team is made of individuals fully engaged in community service. We will always speak on issues of social justice as they are near and dear to our hearts. Our second goal is ‘serving the under-served’, those who can’t help themselves. The current covid19 crisis has shown that many sections of our population are extremely vulnerable. We will speak up for our veterans, our seniors and those who need advocacy.

We do interviews daily & speak directly to those on the move and doing positive things in Aurora. There’s much to come in the future as we showcase our beloved city. Tune in and take part in the discussion!
